Final act of kindness

The officer (Jeremy Henwood...not sure of the spelling) who had just returned from a tour in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq bought cookies for the little boy standing beside him in McDonald's. He asked the boy what he wanted to do when he grew up and the boy replied, "I want to be an NBA star." The officer replied, "Well, you have to work hard for that." Then three minutes later, the officer was gunned down while sitting in his patrol car. His kindness, conversation with the boy, and the realization that the officer died a few minutes later changed the boy's perspective on life for the better.
