I just had a fitness test. Apparently my quads are weak. I assumed that weak quads are related to a more balanced use of legs muscles. The fitness instructed was surprised considering I run 20 to 50 a week, bike 100 k a week and have run a 50 k ultra, two half marathons this year and I'm about the run a marathon at the end of the month.

Not too concerned considering my quads are not trashed or injured after long runs but would like to hear what others experience is with quad strength.

Thanks

Pb

What type of fitness test did you do to determine quad weakness? How weak are they?

The test was squating against a wall. My time was 45 seconds. We did a timed plank just before and I could feel my quads burning then we tested for quads. No excuse for the poor test results.
It was a birthday present and fully paid for. No sale pitches.

Don't fret. Your condition isn't life threatening :) If you would like to increase your quad strength and stamina just start weekly simple routine that will improve it. As for its affect on your running.....as you say you are happy with it right? I personally like to maintain strong quads so I do a once a week total body routine with weights. My basic exercises are Squats, llunges , hamstring curls, glute machine, box steps and isolated wall squat holds.
