Barefoot Rick is going to hit the 20,000 barefoot mark.

Yes, I will only be approaching the 17,000mi mark this week. I think he has been running barefoot a couple years longer than me though. Plus, he said before that he always tries to get in 50mi a week as a goal.

Congrats to both of you, Spooner and Rick! That is a wonderful accomplishment! :D

Pretty sweet!
Hey Spooner are those marathon times all BF???

Yes. I would like to have some other distances in there, but it is difficult to find races that fit in my schedule.

Those are some sweet times and distances.
How many years have you been at it BF?

About 7 years. I got started after seeing KenBob finish the Bayshore marathon. When I tried to research it more to make sure it was actually possible, the only website I could really find was KenBob's yahoo group. Born to Run wasn't even out yet
(I still haven't read it). So I basically had to go it alone when I was starting.

Well this is inspirational (I also have never read Born to Run...lol). I know lots of members of this forum are very experienced, but us newbies don't hear lots of the stories, times ,etc.
Once I get to that point BF Bayshore is on my list (I'm a native Michigander)
Thanks for sharing and congrats!

I am actually from Michigan. I went through a couple winters running barefoot. I moved to Taiwan about 5 years ago.

Yall are legendary man! A true inspiration to us all!

Hi Spooner,
Have you found your race times improving the longer you have been involved with barefoot running? You've got some impressive marathon times, I don't think my feet would cope with that distance. Been running BF for around 2.8 years, when did you hit the 'sweet spot' ie peak of improvements. Just did an Easter 10k run (actually around 11km). A bit slower than last year in 55min.
Neil

It took me a year to get back up to the same distance I was running before and another year before I was running at the same speed. Another year after that and I was starting to run faster. I am hoping of running my fastest marathon ever in May.
