Ok, I'm thinking about holding my own ultra marathon down here in southeast Texas on some local trails.

The trails are very non-technical, very flat soft dirt with a little bit of sand in a few places. In comparison to Rocky Raccoon, this trail is like a nicely paved road. Its awesome!

I'm trying to figure out a date on it, and since I know that the majority of the racers are members of this site (ok Bubba and Doomed), I figured I would just start a thread for it here. Lol.

The race will be held "Fat Ass" style. This means there is no monetarily "entry fee", I just ask that you bring some type of aid station food, be it waters, powerade, PB&Js, gummy bears, ect.. To the race. The course is an out and back with a few loops, and there will be 5 aid stations (2 out, one at the turn around, then the same 2 on the way back in) and will just be stuff thrown in the back of either an SUV, truck, or car with someone sitting in it... If you have to drop out for any reason, you have to make it to one of these make shift aid stations as the rest if the trail is inaccessible by vehicle. Being as there is no entry fee, your not in a race, more of a group run. So if you get injured our die, its your own dumb ass fault, so tough sh!t!!! Lol.

This thread will be the unofficial home base of this race that isn't really even a race since there won't be any awards or anything like that. Although I might look into T shirts for those who say their showing up.

So, if your interested please let me know via this thread. If you have friends that are interested, have them sign up as a member and post here. If you have any ideas / thoughts / recommendations on this, please post them here as well.

Thanks!

When( I know you are trying to figure it out), where and how far?

Ideally before it gets too hot. Temps reach over 100 by June here, add in 100% humidity and your officially in hell.

Maybe sometime in May?

It will be in a little podunk town named Kountze...

I don't know the exact length, somewhere over 30 and under 50... Lol. I'll have an exact length later on when I have a chance to run the entire trail. There was a bridge under construction last time I ran it...

Ok, how does everyone feel about maybe the last weekend in April? Any takers?

I'm not free the last weekend of April, but I wouldn't change the dates on my account.
Where are thinking about running -- Big Thicket preserve trail north of Kountze or round the Christmas Tree farm and through the woods?

No can do, sorry Chaser.

Kountze trails. I hear the people living around that Christmas Tree farm are strange individuals...

Jason, thats great!!! Whichever weekend works out best for everybody is what we will probablly go with. Of course anytime somebody wants to run some very nice, batefoot friendly trails in Southeast Texas just let me know! Lol.

Dama, that sucks... Maybe next time!??!?! Lol.

Doomed, bubba, where the hell are yall???

Shame, no trips to Texas in my schedule so far. I'll be sweating my unmentionables off in Indonesia in April.
