Celebrating the re-opening of the BRS!

Thank you, TJ and the rest of you who have been working hard behind the scenes. I am grateful for your putting the interests of the BRS ahead of your own individual interests. I think it is disgusting that one person's greed has caused so much turmoil. If the barefootrunners.org does end up in any hands other than the BRS, then I would hope the successor site would be shunned by barefoot and minimalist runners.

As for the BRS' organizational structure, it makes sense to operate as an LLC until there is a lot of surplus money. Many people don't know that the fees for forming a non-profit organization are considerable (thank you, IRS) and the accounting/auditing requirements to maintain non-profit status also cost a significant amount. It's cheaper and less burdensome in most states to operate as a technically for-profit business. The irony is that government rules end up taking the biggest bite (in proportional terms) from those charitable/nonprofit efforts that can least afford to pay.

Thanks again, BRS leaders!

Thank you all for you kind support and words. They really mean a lot. I know that by demonstrating honesty and openness from the start of the BRS in all of my posts and not running away when things got tough on the old site with all the flaws and bugs and those crashes and hiccups (you long-timers know what I'm talking about), and standing strong to protect you and your data would prove what is right in your minds. I've been here from the beginning, and I have never abandoned you.

OMGOSH! We have a BAREFOOT SMILEY! A BAREFOOT SMILEY! A BAREFOOT SMILEY! Matt! Where did you get that guy?! I have been begging for a barefoot smiley for a long time. Now we have a BAREFOOT SMILEY! So cool. :barefoot: So cute too!

TJ, are my profile and avatar victims of the migration? No big deal, but I, being somewhat technically challenged, will probably take a long time to recapitulate my previous glory.

It seems that some people's have transferred over, and some have not. I am sorry about this. You're not the only one, so if you could post in the Site Help forum, others will have the answer too, and it might save us a little extra work. In the meantime, I will check into it.

Okay. It's real simple. Just go to your member name link at the top right and click it, then select Avatar from the list of available options to configure. From there, it's pretty much self-explanatory.

Phew.. glad it's back.. Now how bout some NewOrleans runners coming out for the Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon this Sunday ? I will be driving down there this Sat for the race.. will be running with my Luna ledville pacers.. just got my LUNA shirt and will be wearing that.. Hope to see some barefooters there.

This site is much easier to navigate once you spend a little time checking it out. To be able to just click the button at the top of the page to go back to the subforum without having to completely leave and re-enter is awesome. Now...where do we put the couch?

Sweet! That's a great idea, Jen. Everyone, just get a big black permanent marker and do like Jen did. (Although we aren't changing the name of the organization, just the domain name. :))

Oh, and a new BFRS business card template would be nice. :D

Yes, most definitely, as I can get to it.
