That's just not fair Lava! Here i am freezing my cahoonas off and this picture pops up, i hope you get sand in your christmas dinner ;)

And to answer the thread question, yes, i'm a complete wuss.

Ok, so I'm in Idaho for the night, I've decided I am a wuss when it comes to the cold. I had thought I would run at least once when I get home to Montana, but they are colder than here in Idaho and its upper teens here. No thank u, at least not barefoot.

Yeh, I'm a cold weather wuss.

Yeh, I'm a cold weather wuss. I wear my shoes when I find it necessary. Anything below 25F and I've got shoes on...40F if it's wet. I don't like cold feet haha. Besides, in oklahoma it's not the cold...It's the wind that makes it miserable during the winter. I'd much rather run on the baking asphault sans shoes than on the cold asphalt. I'm with Lavarunner.

Are you in the process of

Are you in the process of driving home to Montana from Oregon to spend Christmas with family, Nick? Sounds great.

Yes TJ I was. Got here today

Yes TJ I was. Got here today and it is super cold. Want to get a run in tomorrow but elecation change plus the cold may make me not want to. I dont really have a shirt warm enough for the temps here.

Excuses, excuses.  Teasing.

Excuses, excuses. Teasing. I would probably stay in too.

So took my first barefoot

So took my first barefoot steps in snow today. Ya, ya'all are crazy for running barefoot in snow. That hurt something fierce after only a couple minutes.

It takes some getting used

It takes some getting used to, that's for sure. Only do it in very small amounts, very small amounts until you can gradually build up. I don't care for running in the snow and ice though. I've been down to 27 degress F but that was when the ground was dry.

I ran my first crisp run of

I ran my first crisp run of the year last night. 15 degrees with a wind chill of 3 degrees. I ran the first 20 minutes in vibrrams, then ran barefoot for 15 minutes. My toes were fine, but my right heel started to go numb so I put the footwear back on, need to play it safe. My body has to get used to the teens and single digits right now.

This is an area where I've

This is an area where I've really really changed/improved. I used to be a major winter wuss, with shoes. I've always run with long pants/tights as soon as got cool out, and my knees would always get sore in the winter weather. But running so much barefoot, it's crazy, my feet and legs just feel warm. It doesn't seem like we're going to any seriously freezing temps this year but I'd guesstimate that I wouldn't need protection for feet or legs till well below the freezing point. It was around 32°F and windy yesterday - no problem.

Oh, apparently I'm the winner

Oh, apparently I'm the winner of the wussiest cold weather wuss. 50 degrees wet and upper 40s dry has been the limit so far for me, and even at that limit there was some numbness. However, I have not yet tried dry pavement on a sunny day, but in my area, that isn't very likely lately.

Maybe next year? I did just start bf running this fall, so who knows what marvelous adaptation shall come my way next year. For now, though, socks and soft stars for me.

I had my first "crisp" run

I had my first "crisp" run today, too. 23F with winds of 10 mph. Ran in VFF Biks with tights and 3 layers of tech shirt. Just fine. Did a quick 5 miles, half paved and half frozen trail. Not bad at all on the run and the hot bath after was HEAVEN!

Well you officially have more wussiness than me lol. I really thought I might be the worse. Coldest I have been able to run somewhat comfortably so far was 41ºF road surface temp, can't remember the air temp but realize there could easily be 5º difference between air and road temps, or maybe more but thats usually what I see at this time of year.

I too just started this fall (3rd week of septemeber if memory serves). We'll have to compare notes next year see if we can take colder temps.

The other day I did take off my VFFs to run the last bit bf, it was close to freezing I think, and it felt great to be bf again but it only lasted about 2.7 seconds. I was within a half mile of my house when I pulled off the VFFs and I had to put em back on by the time I was done (especially since I was going to keep going after my house a few minutes for a cool down).

Other than being barefoot I consider myself to be able to take anything temperature wise. We dont have AC in our house so summers its 80+ inside most of the time, and whether I am inside or out its rare to find me wearing more than a pair of shorts. In winter we heat with wood primarily, its a big house and propane aint cheap. Wood heat is great but this year my stack was rained on all year and never dried out enough, I am having trouble getting the stoves up to temp. The last few days where its been in the teens overnight and maybe around 20 during the day our house has been at 60-61º downstairs and upper 50's upstairs. But those temps dont really phase me I dont mind wearing a flannel shirt. Upper 60's or more and I'm down to a t-shirt again.
