Hi all,

I am running a Halloween race and I want to incorporate a costume that makes sense with being barefoot. Lots of my friends have suggested Caveman but for no reason in particular, that just doesn't really work for me.

I was thinking ancient greek but those guys wore sandals and I don't have running sandals yet. The Hulk would be fun, but then I am painted all green and thats not really working for me either. I thought it might be fun to brainstorm with you guys (or share what you are going to be) Thoughts?

I am not running in race, but

I am not running in race, but I am going to be the incredible hulk. I bought this hulk custome which is a full body muscle getup, my feet will exposed to i will be painting them and green and going out barefoot.

If i was running in race I would dress up as a zombie and run barefoot.

How does a zombie dress

How does a zombie dress really? We have a Zombie race here next weekend and I am contemplating doing the 5k, but I really don't know how a zombie dresses really. I really don't want to run in jeans or anything hot and uncomfortable as I have sensitive skin that gets irritated easily, so this is making me think maybe I'll skip the race? I missed what was supposed to be my first barefoot race a month ago because of my calf injury and I guess I am kind of itching to do one to make up for it now.

Ewwwww, Theresa!How about

Ewwwww, Theresa!

How about you go as a barefoot and pregnant lady. It would be really funny, since you are a guy. You could get one of those large, soft, light plastic balls you see in the large ball bins at Walmart and Target, or get an inflatable ball, stick it in an old granny dress you could get from the Goodwill store. That would be hysterical!

BTW, again I ask, who wants

BTW, again I ask, who wants to head up the Halloween Costume Contest thread this year? It takes hardly any time. Who has the rules again? Hee.

I am thinking of being an

I am thinking of being an escaped mental patient. I figured that would be funny and loose enough not to worry about bugging me when I ran. I was also going to try on one of those big butts the halloween stores sell and get skin colored shirt and tights for under, in case it's cold. I think the big butt, messy hair, some sort of a hospital bracelet and gown would be all it would take.

Streeker would be an easy one too, but running in a trench coat might get hot.

Adam or Eve would be good. Get some skin colored tights, shirt, or whatever and hot glue some fake fig leaves in the appropriate location(s). Guys would have to add some balloons or similar chesticles to be Eve, but that would be funny!!

That's all I've got so far...besides the ovious... Ken or Ryu from Street Fighter, any martial arts guy, cave man, Flinstone character, Native American, Homeless person...

Adult nappy + red body paint

Adult nappy + red body paint = Jelly Baby! I did this once for halloween (though back in my shod days) and it worked a treat.

On second thoughts, do you have jelly babies in the US?

Great suggestions everyone! I

Great suggestions everyone! I kinda like the barefoot and pregnant one. When my wife and I were running together while she was expecting, that was our unofficial team name! It was always fun to see who got more weird looks. (Hint: it was me)

I also like escaped mental patient and martial arts guy. I would go as the Barefoot Bandit, but no one knows who he is.

PS What the hell is a Jelly Baby?

They are an English sweetshop classic, I've heard they are quite similar to the soft jelly beans that you have in the US, but since no one has heard of them perhaps not the best idea. I was thinking if you have the patience a skeleton would look pretty awesome with the bones on your feet picked out.

The bones on his feet picked

The bones on his feet picked out... Hmmmm...

*Facepalm* I meant the bones

*Facepalm* I meant the bones sort of highlighted with white paint!

I'm not quite Ballzy enough

I'm not quite Ballzy enough to run too far in costume, but I will be trying to figure something out for Halloween night after my marathon. Maybe I'll go as a lifeguard? They don't wear shoes, I could swing a whistle on a lanyard the whole night and come close to hitting people.
