Hello all,

A brief history:

I joined months ago, but just got around to writing this post. My journey into the barefoot lifestyle/running began in 2007 when I was searching for more running shoes that utilized the BOA lacing system. Through searches on Google, I landed on the Vibram Five Fingers website. I bought my first pair of Vibrams in the Classic model. They did not fit well, so I put them away. A year later I curious to see if they now had a bigger size, and they did. In the form of the KSO. I bought a pair, and right away noticed a huge difference. That first week my feet and calves were sore, but I never wanted to wear anything else! A little more research had me learning about the detriment of modern shoes, and what they cause. In 2008 I started going without shoes as much as possible, which lead to running. The end of 2009 I spent over 6 months working myself up to being able to run 3 miles, but then life got hectic and busy. Then in spring of 2011 I decided to get back into running barefoot with my black belt exam coming up (I would have to run 5 miles). While training, I got some slight achilles pain from doing too much too soon. Four months later in September, I was able to complete the five miles barefoot for the exam, no problem (to everyone's amazement). I'm looking for 5K and 10K events to sign up for now.

Anyone else use http://www.mapmyrun.com to track their runs?

Welcome, Linux, finally!

Welcome, Linux, finally! Hopefully, 2012, we'll be a good running year for both of us.

Hey, come out to the free

Hey, come out to the free barefoot clinic at Oak Point Nature preserve in Plano this Sat the 15th at 9am if you can. I think there are a few of us in your area. Good to have you! I'll be running the Halloween hustle 15k on the 30th if that's not too far for you by then. They also have a 5k at same race. Check the calendar. I try to post up events.
