Where is all the military BRS members? I know that there are quite a few of us. I was thinking to myself that perhaps a military chapter would be something that could be initiated here.

A little about me

Active Army- SGT- Duty station- Schofield Barracks- Currently deployed to Afghanistan

Another military member here,

Another military member here, I'd like to see a military chapter. Consider opening it up to veterans as well. I am an active duty Air Force Major assigned the Det 640 Miami University, Oxford Ohio.

A military chapter sounds great. I'm an AD Air Force TSgt, stationed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Currently working with the National Guard Bureau.

I'm active duty Coast Guard,

I'm active duty Coast Guard, BMCS. 17 years and counting. Stationed on the Mississippi River now (surprised me too!).

Strangely enough, Busphan, I also have a Split Window Bus. 66 Riviera Camper now, along with 73 Thing. I've had nearly a dozen so far, but these two are in the stable for now.

Army here, assigned to a unit

Army here, assigned to a unit in SE Michigan. Currently reserves, been in since '94 and got promoted to CW2 last year. Actually saw one other guy in our unit wearing minimal shoes this AT for our APFT (I wore Trail Gloves since VFF's are now verboten for us).

And yeah, a military chapter would be pretty cool.

I hear you!  First, I want to

I hear you! First, I want to tell you all THANK YOU for the many sacrifices you all make in your daily lives so that others can live freely, safely. Those two simple words are never enough.

We've had a request like this before but from only two other people. Warren thought about leading this chapter at one point as well. The deal is we are an international community now. If I create a chapter for American military personnel, do I then create one for all the other countries as well? I cannot do that, as it would be way too much overhead. Would you all be open to including military people from other countries in this chapter? And do you really need a chapter? Chapters are more for people who are in the same region and scheduling events for those regions. How about a forum all your own instead? Now that, I can do. I know the forum would get a lot of use, since so many of you have created threads and posts specifically about barefoot running, barefoot living, and your jobs. We could even move the many other threads to this new forum. (Will need a volunteer for this part though.)

What say you?

Military ChapterTo All,I

Military Chapter

To All,

I brought this up to TJ about a year ago and as she said I was willing to be the Chapter President. The more we discussed it and the more I thought about it, military personnel staying within State Chapters or International Chapters made more sense for a couple of reasons.

1. It prevents TJ from taking on more overhead considering we are everywhere there are probably already Chapters, even internationally. If you knew all that was happening behind the scenes to keep the BRS operation going you'd know why it's important to minimize overhead if possible. At least for now.

2. It gives us (military personnel) an opportunity to join a local Chapter and spend some time barefoot running with those in our local community, which also improves our visibility and relations in the communities surrounding our bases. It also gives us an opportunity, internationally, to link up with foreign barefoot runners assuming we're stationed in a permissible environment. My next orders may take me to Okinawa within the next year and I definitely look forward to linking up with some Japanese barefoot runners.

Semper Fi,

Warren Dickey

Chapter President, Florida-Tampa

A forum would be good. I was just looking for an easier way to communicate with other military personnel on various topics because lets face it, we face some vary distinct challenges in both running and everyday life.

Consider it done! I have created the forum, and placed a message in there. Please check it out and offer some suggestions.

If anyone would like to step up as moderator to move the past military threads to this new Military forum, please let me know. It would require a simple search for some key words, such as military, PT tests, army boots, ... :) and changing the forum location.

I'm active Army, currently

I'm active Army, currently stationed in Texas. I've been running minimal (periodically barefoot) for almost a year now. I'm a big lurker/rare poster as evidence by my post count here and on RW.

It's neat to see a forum has been created for the military.

Hi there, SSG in the Michigan National Guard here, when doing PT I wear my VFF, and for the APFT I wear FeelMax, nobody notices those. Therefore they don't say Sh..t....
