I have been working on going barefoot running and in order to further that goal I have been going barefoot in and around the house. The other day I was outside playing with my 7year old when he wanted to take his bike to a part of the neighboorhood where there were some dirt hills and ride there. It had rained the day before and there was plenty of mud to squish around in. I jumped in feet first and had the time of my life just stomping around, enjoying the mud squishing between my toes and how cool it felt. Having worn shoes most of my life I had forgotten how much fun this was. I keep finding more and more reasons to go barefoot. Now if I can only convince my mother that I most likely won't get bit by baby copperheads.

I love the mud and it's

I love the mud and it's squishiness, but going from mud to tiny gravel is not nearly as fun as the mud acts like glue to which the rocks cling. No amount of dancing a jig to work them loose seems to cut it. Puddles I love. First time you come across some muddy patch and contemplate going through it, you instantly remember all those times as a kid when you were told not to, and then you do it and it's liberating! Also better when you have a towel handy to wipe those feet off before you track it into the car or house. ;-)

I ran in a downpour a couple

I ran in a downpour a couple nights ago. Again, I just loved it. I was the only person out I saw running. On a sunny day, there are usually lots of people running. I had a blast!

Running on muddy trails is fun - sometimes I stop and splash a little. Makes me feel like like Peppa Pig - until I slip and fall on my butt.
