Forefoot plantar fat pad

I just saw this

I just saw this thread...didn't read every post, but here's my input:

I have mild Morton's Toe which may or may not be relevant here. Anyway, last year while running barefoot I messed up a place under my 2nd metatarsal head (nearest I can tell)--felt like a deep stone bruise. I had to run with VFFs after that. Several months later I tried to run bare again but that area hurt again--and the other foot sometimes hurts there too.

So, I don't know if I have a thin fat pad but I wouldn't be surprised if I do. This seems to be an area I injure very easily, and so I honestly don't know if BFR is for me. I may always be more of a minimalist runner due to this sensitive area on my foot.

Once I get back to running, that is.... I'm taking time off, letting my IT band heal. I ran on it way too much when I should have rested it, and it's taking awhile to get it healed up.

Tried to run a bit in the

Tried to run a bit in the hospital parking lot tonight barefoot. Made it all of a minute before my right foot told me to stop. 2nd and maybe 3rd metatarsal heads were feeling uncomfortable. Fortunately, I stopped. Came home and tried running in place on asphalt and did it for 4 minutes without problem. As discouraged as I was about only making it a minute in the parking lot, I was encouraged by being able to run in place without pain. Only problem is that running in place is quite boring.

If one minute is all I could take actually running, is it just a lost cause? Or, are there other people like me who could only do that much when they started and now are successfully running barefoot? Thoughts?

Thanks for your thoughts

Thanks for your thoughts Mike. It does hurt quite a bit when the rope smacks you in the toe. I'm getting a little better so I'm not flogging myself quite as much.

Wideguy-

How long did it take before it wasn't a problem? I can't seem to run on asphalt more than about 200-300 yards before it seems that I ought to stop.
