The picture makes them look painful but their not. :)

How in the world did you

How in the world did you manage to get those things on your soles?

They do look painful indeed.

Got form issues I see. Your poor feet. So much for "listening" to your feet. Have you looked at that pic yourself to see what your feet are telling you ?

Perhaps I don't speak their

Perhaps I don't speak their language yet but yes, I'm trying to listen. The dark areas are the areas that don't hurt when I run or after I run for that matter. The tender areas have always been elsewhere. The dark areas started on my first run and have stayed put. They don't lighten up even with a pumice stone so I don't know what to make of them.

I have no idea. I'm enjoying the runs and feel like I'm running gently. Perhaps you and Angie can give me some advice tomorrow when we run together.

You bet! I'll see what we can

You bet! I'll see what we can do for you.

Don't you start tensing up just yet we'll be nice---promise!

Now come on, I bet someone in

Now come on, I bet someone in your past taught you to put a little be of effort into scrubbing. That road tar ought to come off with a little elbow grease.

Ha! Yeah Dama, I'm not

Ha! Yeah Dama, I'm not worried. Looking forward to it.

You know Alejandro, I thought the same thing for a while... originally I was running near my home but found that the tar is far too exposed and ended up with globs sticking to my feet for a while. I use a pumice stone about once a week to keep on top of any rough spots and have tried 'cleaning' those dark spots but to no avail.

Cub, the picture really does make them look worse than they look in person. Must've been the flash or something but I gasped when I first saw the picture too. I have been amazed by how fast the body heals though yes... incredible.

Still learning the language,

Still learning the language, huh? You're funny. Is that damage or grime? If it's grime, try a Scotchbrite scrubber. My feet are pink after I use that, no stains.

Well, could be grime I guess.

Well, could be grime I guess. The dark spots don't hurt so I don't think it's damage. I'll try out a Scotchbrite scrubber and some degreaser to see if it's from back when I got some tar stuck to my feet from the streets around my house.

I was able to run with more experienced barefoot runners today in Des Moines for the Iowa Chapter Meetup. They thought my form was looking pretty good and gave me some great tips and training ideas.

That's what it's all about.

That's what it's all about. :)

I use the burgundy scotch brite scrubbing pad, not the green one. See if you can find the coarsest one they have.

It's official... those aren't

It's official... those aren't grime. I used a variety of products and extra heavy duty scouring pads and new pumice stone and a metal scraper... can't tell you what they are but they're staying for now... as they don't hurt, I couldn't really care less about them. I do wish they were more photogenic though. Sure are ugly in the picture!

Bruises?!

Bruises?!

Must be that or deep blood blisters showing through or something like that... it's the not hurting part that makes me think otherwise... I'm not concerned with them though. I focus on things that hurt... I rarely spend time looking at the bottoms of my feet so attractiveness isn't key in my book for them. :)

I pay more attention to my

I pay more attention to my feet now that I run barefoot than when I was a shod runner. I take better care of them now. You'll start to too, especially now that you know our scrubbing secrets. ;-)
