2nd Annual NYC Barefoot Run (Sept 24-25) -- Who's going?

I had to decide between a personal engagement in Paris and this event... Paris won but next year I plan to go. Thanks Angie for the hint of the Gershwin - I will try to remember and book in advance (all rooms were sold out today).

Feeling a little like

Feeling a little like Cinderella being left home from the ball (no rich fairy godmother here). I don't even get to run home without my glass slippers. :( Cuz you know Cinderella was a closet barefoot runner. :)

OK. I managed to find a way to get there! Woohoo! And if anyone wants a west coast original NYC BFR Tshirt, I designed one for the event. Go check it out in my store. And if you want a specific shirt just hollar. I will make sure you get it.

This was a fun event!  I only

This was a fun event! I only went on Sunday for the run. It started off on the wrong foot for me though, got totally lost on the drive into the city. I used to drive to NYC countless of times years ago, and only live 60 minutes anyway.

The ferry ride to Governors Island was very nice, it was suppose to rain but the weather was perfect for the day.

I ran 11 barefoot miles, my plan was to either do 15 or 20, but I have an un-related running issue with my foot so took it easy. By accident I happened to fall into a running pack that consisted of Erwan Le Corre from Movat, Dr. Mark Cucuzella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpnhKcvbsMM (he had the same shirt on), and Dr. Daniel Lieberman. I have to say I was really impressed with Lieberman, he had great form, and at the time we were running at a 8:00 pace. And he was doing all the talking! haha. He has alot of energy and I could tell he is passionate about barefoot running.

Right after I ran I gathered my stuff and had to catch a 12:00 ferry back back off the island. I did have two cups of beer before my walk back, that beer was amazing! I forget the name, but it was very hoppy, which I like. I was listening in to KenBob talk with people, he is so laid back and seems like a genuine cool guy.

I totally missed you at the event Gentile! WTF...you can't find the dude in the cape?

The beer at the event was Smuttynose. They had a pumpkin brew and a brown nose ale. I had like a thousand of them on Saturday during the presentation at Pier 17.

Saypay:  I actually did you

Saypay: I actually did you see while i was leaving, but you were involved with a group of people. I apologize i didn't introduce myself, and i didn't see the infamous cap either! How did i miss that?! Maybe next year.

Smuttynose! thanks, i didn't try the pumpkin. Not really a fan of pumpkin beer, but the brown ale was killer!

Adam- sorry I missed you

Adam- sorry I missed you Sunday, too. Unlike that overachiever SayPay, I missed the first two ferries.

For those that are deciding if they should go next year, this was the absolute best barefoot event I've ever been a part of! Epic report coming soon!

I'll take it for the homepage, please Jason!

Same here! I left early, had other things to do later in the day on sunday so i left around 11:00 or so. I will be there next year for sure, and will plan to have the day open so I can hang out more, and be more social. Sorry i missed you. Great crowd, great atmosphere for sure.

Barefoot Gentile (and

Barefoot Gentile (and everyone else) - come for the whole weekend next year! Not just Sunday! Everything from the friday night drinks to saturday clinics and evening talks, to the run and paleo snacks... it was all really good.

Gentile - And I'm another person that would have loved to meet you seeing as I read your blog. It would have been great to chat! I had such a fabulous time meeting Christian and Jason and a ton of other people. The whole weekend was just a blast. I only managed to Run Smiley one lap, but I'm saving myself for my upcoming marathon in a couple weeks so I wasn't going to push it. Trying to maintain uninjured status with an almost always injured body is tough work. We should make plans to meet up next year if we are all able to make it again. :)

I just posted this epic trip on my blog if anyone is interested in reading my version. ;-)

Next year for sure, if we all go again. Good luck on your marathon, that is exciting!
