Hey guys! I'm a new guy from Florida. JUST starting barefoot running. My whole life (I'm 28) I've said "I cant run" or "I'm not a runner" etc.... Then I read "Born to Run" and my mind was blown. Then I read "The barefoot running book" and then "barefoot running" and am SO hooked.

I had bought VFFs before reading any of the books - someone actually said "did you read that book?" referring to "born to run," that was the beginning of me being able to run. I LOVE my VFFs, I have KSOs and Bikilas and I have a pair of Luna sandals on the way.

I just started running barefoot. First time out I ran .75 miles until there was a little pain btwn my calf and ankle so I stopped. Let my legs recover for two days, then I ran 1.25 but in three little jogs 1mi in my KSOs and .25 barefoot(that was spread out through a whole day, longest single run was .6mi).

As you can tell I am no fitness nut, I Crossfit (Firebase in Orlando, best there is!) for a while but my hectic work schedule made it not worth it. So I am in pretty terrible shape, but that works for the barefoot thing because I'm starting from zero.

I figured I would let you guys get to know be first, but I really want to start a Tampa Bay chapter, try and organize runs, etc...

Also, I wanted to create a blog, for selfish reasons mainly, so there was a place for me to send people to share info on barefoot running etc... But my failed attempt to create a blog that did what i want led me to create a facebook page, so I am sort of blogging my barefoot experience via "the sort-of Barefoot Runner" on facebook.

Look forward to getting to know everyone, AA

Glad you are here. We just launched International Barefoot Running Day on Siesta Key, FL which is not too far from you. I will be organizing another run soon and will invite you. Do take time and care in the transition. Far wiser runners than me have confirmed this is the way to go. All the best.
