Tonight I am switching from a 4" foam mattress to sleeping on a yoga mat. Wish me luck. It's kind of like switching from Frees to some huaraches, I think. Wondering what's next.

That would absolutely kill my back! Good luck. Let us know if you survive the night. ;-)

It's for my back which I hurt

It's for my back which I hurt at some point and can't get better. Desperation! I feel much more refreshed today after sleepong that way. I think I will keep this up and turn my mattress into a window seat cushion.

Wow.  That's incredible.

Wow. That's incredible. Maybe you're onto something. Ditch the overly padded, overly controlling raised cusion, sleep on what God gave you, your back, and heal what ails you. Sounds familiar. Ha!

I'm going to stick with what

I'm going to stick with what the Sweedish gave me! Haha! After 6yrs of lower back pain the Sweedish Sleep System memory foam bed did what no Chiropractor could in for years all in about 9mo.

I feel like this would only

I feel like this would only really work if you are a back sleeper. Which is, I suppose, the ideal way to sleep, but it sure seems like a yoga mat could be tough on the hips if you normally sleep on your side.

I'm a ground sleeper too.  I

I'm a ground sleeper too. I like sleeping on my side, back, or stomach..I find it very comfortable indeed.

With carpeted floors and some extra padding underneath, of course.

It's OK - I did hip thrusts into a gravel bucket for awhile before transitioning.

Have you ever considered

Have you ever considered sleeping in a hammock? There is a discussion on full time hangers on hammockforums.net that I haven't participated in but have been reading.

I slept in a hammock for a couple of years in my 20's - it was amazing. Yes, I have thought about doing it again. It gets cold in the winter, though. You are reminding me to look into securing a hammock in the room I sleep in.

Yeah, recently as my wife and

Yeah, recently as my wife and I were moving I threw out the idea of selling our Tempurpedic and getting a king or jumbo size hammock (I like spooning)... I thought she was going to slap me, but it is such a difficult bed to move.

I sleep with my neck at a 45

I sleep with my neck at a 45 degree angle, which kills most people, but my neck loves it -whether I'm on my back or side. I try to spend the same amount of time each night on my side, my back, and my other side. I can't handle floors or memory foam, just somewhere in between. I think it really depends on the person. I do enjoy sleeping in recliners though, which is kinda hammock-y. I see why the hammock would work well, because it slightly stretches out and decompresses the spine, which the spine loooooves.

This thread does beg the question...bra ditching anyone? Lol. Yeah, well, I ditched mine for awhile and as 40 is approaching I am beginning to regret that one. Lol.

You might not be surprised

You might not be surprised that I already started a thread on running with no bra some months ago. I'm not doing the gravel bucket thing for that, though.

LOL - yeah what the heck was

LOL - yeah what the heck was the gravel bucket thing you were talking about...or should I be scared to ask???

Actually, since I started

Actually, since I started running barefoot, I have been able to tone down the strength of my bras and even wear just one and that is because you actually aren't bouncing up and down when you are doing it right!

Yeah, I was always a low to

Yeah, I was always a low to the ground runner even before I went barefoot - a shuffler. I don't really have bounce. I am a DDD, but I can get away with a street bra while running. Some people "toughen" their feet by stomping in a gravel bucket filled with landcape gravel.
