Let's have your PR's!

DMC, that's a tough age group

DMC, that's a tough age group to be competitive in. Nice job. I turned forty this year so I got moved into the "senior" category. Stoked! Can't wait until I'm 50, I plan to stomp the fogies my age. ;)

Matt I'm with you in only counting my PR's if they are BF.

Troy, RESPECT for doing a marathon BF. I'm working my way there, a step at a time.

I try not to call too much attention to how much slower my shoes are in comparison to my feet. I don't want the shoes to feel bad.

thanks Joshh!   I was unable

thanks Joshh! I was unable to finish it BF (sore ankles), but I did over 20 miles of it that way. next year my goal is to go the full distance BF! ;)

speaking of fast people though, I did meet a guy at a race yesterday who ran the 10k BF and finished around 37 minutes! It was inspiring!

Matt, I had to read your post

Matt, I had to read your post twice before I got it. :D

Geez, a 37minute 10K, that is smoking. :p Not just the speed, the strength of the pads to handle running hard for that long. Sounds inspiring indeed.

Finished my first barefoot

Finished my first barefoot (complete with no security blanket Vibrams) marathon this morning. Not a smoking time but I am still very happy with it. Chip time of 4:26:58, and was the only barefooter, boy the looks I was getting as I was passing all the shod runners.

My favourite comment from about a 4 year girl, "Look mommy he's got no FEET!" ;-)

Awesome Bob!  Congrats!  26

Awesome Bob! Congrats! 26 fricken miles. Yikes. Some day.

I think my 5K PR is somewhere around 24:08. 10K is more like 1:01:30, which could be a lot faster, but I didn't run very hard in that race. I've got another 10K coming up tomorrow. I should break an hour, but I doubt I will run hard, at least not for the first 3 or 4 miles.By the way, my PR's are all barefoot. I was slower back in my shod days.My Garm PR for fastest pace during a short sprint is a 4:18 pace. I'm hoping to get under 4:00 by the end of the summer. Lately, my sprinting has been really slow.
As I had hoped, I set a new 10K PR yesterday -- 59:07. I kind of eased into the race. Mile 5 was about a 9:00 pace, and mile 6 was about an 8:30 pace. I always like to be able to finish stronger than I start.

Did my first race since

Did my first race since junior year in highschool yesterday. It's been 23 years and it was my first ever BF. Been training to debut with a 5k but this came up a few days ago, it was free, on home turf and sounded like a really cool race. I learned shortly before that it was actually 6.69 miles with well over 600ft of ascent.

It was mostly on trails except for last two some miles that were on gravel road and pavement. This was the only downhill bit and I worried that I was taking a toll on my legs. I ran most of the race with a dude that used to do 32min 10K's and was still a damn good runner. He shadowed me most of the race which was great for keeping up the pressure then at the end he started to flag but I insisted we finish together.

We came in fourth place out of a field of 34 with a time of 48:37. 7:16min/miles which I was really happy about, especially considering the climbing we did.

My stomach started cramping right after the race and Mike had to drink the beer I ordered. Suzanne was wiser than me and just drank water. I learned a new word: haematuria, after going home and peeing blood. A frantic Google search showed me that it was not an uncommon phenomenon in dehydrated runners. Jimmy if you are reading this, I'm sure you are laughing. Strangely enough though, I hydrated a bunch before the race and pee'd twice in the 20 minutes prior to starting. What I learned online though is that I shouldn't have pee'd right before. On an empty bladder, the bladder walls bang together that creates a little hemorrhaging that comes out in the urine. Although I was sufficiently hydrated, the act of peeing just before the race as well as the high temps (80's) took all the water out of me.

What a blast to race though. I woke up today marveling at the fact that my legs don't even feel like they ran yesterday. My feet are a little tender but not too much for a short run. We have another race on Saturday which should be really fun. Happy summer everyone!

I run all my races in Luna

I run all my races in Luna sandals so unsure what my BF times are. Here are the Pr race times I got so far this year. Hoping to shave some time from each of them during the same races next year.

Marathon - 3:27:41

1/2 Marathon - 1:40:05

10k - 43:56

5k - 20:54

Some day I may time myself on my barefoot fun runs and see if I'm any faster without the sandals.

Solid times Shacky.  Let us

Solid times Shacky. Let us know if you are faster without the shoes!

Well, I set a new marathon PR

Well, I set a new marathon PR (in bikilas) on Saturday. Knocked 5 minutes off my last one...ran a 3:21:48 at the Charlevoix marathon. Good enough for 4th in the age group and 30th out of 350. Did it the hard way though. Definately not my most well followed race plan. Went out way too fast. Ran the first half in 1:32:45, at a 7:06 pace. The plan was to be around a 7:30 pace for the first half, then pick it up from there. Problem was, there was no one to run with at that pace. So I got suckered into running with a faster group, and it cost me in the end. Second half was a 1:48...at a much slower 8:19 pace. The really sad thing is that I was holding that 7:06 pace right thru mile 18. Things didn't go to hell till around mile 22. The everything started cramping up and it was a struggle just to finish.

Just have to consider it a lesson learned for next time.

DD77 love your style.  Go for

DD77 love your style. Go for broke and hang on as long as possible! If you made it to mile 18 at that pace, for sure you can do it again and go the full distance. I say don't "consider it a lesson," just train harder and and go those last 8 miles at your pace. This is what's known as "internet advice."

Just ran my first race in

Just ran my first race in VFFs yesterday and set a PR of 23:58. That's over a minute faster than my previous PR running in shoes. I'm still injury free since my transition :) I know it's not BF but still building up my feet. I did a mile last week BF. Slowly working my way up.

Nice one Nash!  Awesome to

Nice one Nash! Awesome to hear that you were faster in VFFs than fully shod.

My PRs (minimalist):5k:

My PRs (minimalist):

5k: 18:23 (road, VFFs)

Half-marathon: 1:44:54 (trail, Merrells)

First marathon (trail) is at the end of August, so finishing will be a PR...

Oh, wait, you meant Personal Record not punk rock

I am slow and thats all I know.

I ran a 10 miler in 1:33 once, Barefoot

I ran a 5 K in 24 the other day.

When I was a klid I ran 110 high hurdles in sub 11. I was happy

I ran home from work last thursday, almost 20 miles, in 3:15, that was a record in long time since I usually drive or Ride the bike all under 1:22.

And I golfed an 82 once. that was a good day

I am not really concerned with PR's I just like to Run and ride

I did my first bf half on

I did my first bf half on Monday in 1:50:55. :) I went out with almost no expectations except to have fun and finish, hopefully under two hours. I started out slow and felt great the whole time, which meant I was passing people left and right for the second half. Lots of "That's insane!"s and "You've got to be kiding me!"s as I passsed, but I did meet a couple of cool people along the way interested in bfr and we talked for a while, so that was fun. When I crossed the finish line, one guy even proposed because I was "so hard core." :p
