Is it no longer a rumor?
Peter Sarsgaard Writing and Directing an Adaptation of 'Born to Run'

June 20, 2011

by Ethan Anderton

This past week we saw him have fun as the villainous Dr. Hector Hammond in Green Lantern, but now the GardenState and An Education actor Peter Sargaard is looking to go behind the camera for his next film venture. Hitfix(via Bleeding Cool) has learned that the actor will make his directorial debut with an adaptation of Christopher McDougall's adventurous autobiographical book Born to Run. The nonfiction book follows the author as he finds a tribe of the world’s greatest distance runners learns their secrets, and in the process shows us that everything we thought we knew about running is just wrong. More below!

What I want to know is...

What I want to know is... Are the actors going to shave their heads like Chris and Ted? Ha!

So, DB, what you're saying is you wont' be shaving your head?! Ha!

I just hope they don't try to

I just hope they don't try to film it in the Copper Canyons.

Both for their sake and for the Canyon's and the Tarahumara's.

Cheers

Kinda tempted to boycott it

Kinda tempted to boycott it since I asked Chris about it at a book signing last year and he flat out lied and said he had no clue what I was talking about. And this was after there were pictures taken of him chatting with Peter. He could have at least pulled the "no comment" card.

I'm still bitter.

Maybe he was sworn to secrecy

Maybe he was sworn to secrecy while they got the final details ironed out. Have you thought about emailing Chris to see what he has to say now?

I like it when Chris drops the F bomb in public to remind everyone he is flawed.

I tried that with my boss and well, it didn't work.

Could end up being a wonderful movie, but how many great books turned out to be just a mediocre movie? It can be difficult to get all the subtle details from book to screen. Looking forward to it's release... Anyone have ballpark?

Awesome! I haven't read this

Awesome! I haven't read this book yet. I think I will watch the movie first and read the book afterwards, so that I won't have to be dissapointed in case this movie doesn't live up to the book that well.
