Merrell Tough Glove - my new work shoe

I've been wearing trail

I've been wearing trail gloves to work for 3 weeks now and aside from the fact o picked outthe mutant yellow ones I have had no complaints. From what I understand the official release was 2/1, but my local store got them early so I picked mine up on 1/13.

How's the width? I tried some

How's the width? I tried some on at Gazelle's and they felt constricting in the forefoot with little or no toe splay. They did not have a size up that I could try on but I will next time I am in the area.

that's a bummer on the width. I have always had a problem with shoe width (fairly wide feet)and the trail gloves are the first shoes I've owned ever that have been wide enough at my correct shoe size (I've never gotten a pair of wide-sized shoes). My toes feel like they splay well in them, although someone who has been BF longer may have a wider splay than me.

for at work, I occasionally find the area around the arch a bit snug (feels fine when I'm walking or running, but sitting at my desk it's just kind of weird), so take that into consideration (i.e. make sure that area feels good before-hand) when thinking about them as a work shoe.

I really love my trail gloves though. they are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

I was given a pair in my

I was given a pair in my normal size, 10.5 US/44.5 EU and am finding them too small. They had felt fine as I tried them on but having run about 24 miles in them I've now got 3 black toe nails! I'll be back in Bikilas for the rest of the winter.

If anybody would like them, for the price of postage, send me a PM. I'll ship them out right away.

So has anyone actually

So has anyone actually started wearing the Merrell Tough Gloves as their everyday work shoe? I'm happy now running barefoot or in one of my two pairs of VFF's (sprint and bikilas), but I don't like wearing clunky regular leather "business shoes" to work. I usually wear khakis, a button down shirt and a jacket - no tie - to work. Sneakers would look too weird, and VFF's even weirder. The brown or black Tough gloves, among all the minimalist shoes out there, appear to be the closest to fitting in as work attire.

startingupagain - I started

startingupagain - I started wearing the Trail Gloves as my every day work shoe this week. Today is day #2. After wearing various VFFs to work for over a year, minus the one day I foolishly wore dress shoes, I can honestly say that my feet are confused by them. The weight is about the same but for some reason it feels like I am wearing clown shoes. Also the toe room is throwing me off. I think I prefer having my toes compartmentalized rather then rubbing up against one another.

Anyways, the plan is to wear them until I can deem my leg healthy enough to run again and then I'm using them strictly for trail running and will wear the VFFs to work once again.

Got em.  Wearing brown

Got em. Wearing brown leather Merrell Tough Gloves as my new work shoe. On day two. I like them. They look close enough to real shoes that I can wear them with khakis and a sportcoat (my usual "uniform"). (I'm a college professor). Not really barefoot, and they make one shorter (no heel lift) but very comfortable. Kind of like wearing ballet shoes (I guess. I've never really worn ballet shoes). Better than wearing oxfords (what I've worn in the winter) or topsiders (what I've worn in the summer).

Depending on the style

Depending on the style needed, www.softstarshoes.com. They make a very comfortable soft leather sole shoe that would work great with khaki's but less so business attire. For those of you who've heard of their Runamocs, they were making regular shoes well before getting into the minimalist footwear arena.

I have two pairs of Soft Star Shoes, one leather soled, one with a rubber coating over the leather to make them more durable - absolutely love them.

Hey I am thinking about

Hey I am thinking about making the tough glove my new work shoe too. I was wondering if you have any pictures of the tough glove shoes with khakis or jeans since no one on any review online has posted that yet. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Thanks startingupagain!  Its

Thanks startingupagain! Its tough to really see it from that picture since its so small, but it looks pretty good! Can you make that picture bigger? If not don't worry about. Thanks for showing that.
