Oh, I miss stuff like this,

Oh, I miss stuff like this, which is less common this year than last. It's kinda fun when people are really bothered by BFR.

It seems to come out a lot more on the Internet than in meatspace, though. I've never overheard a conversation this strident that was between two people actually TALKING.

I think generally, whenever you're doing something "different," and clearly doing it that way on purpose, some people will think you're nuts. Other people will take it as a challenge, an affront, some sort of statement that THEY are doing something wrong.

As BFR's we don't have a lot of control over how personally they are going to take it. Some people are just itching for a conflict. The only thing we can do is watch ourselves for "new convert syndrome" -- being so excited about the things we've discovered going BF that it comes off as pushy to other people. I do notice that in the slowtwitch thread the BF advocates were in general more polite than the critics... thanks pbarker.

I've personally had to resolve that I'm not getting in any more flame wars about this. The only place I post about BFR now is here. When I'm out in meatspace, I just try to smile.

[EDITED TO ADD:] though I occasionally lapse back into the new convert syndrome. Sorry, general public.

It is kind of fun isn't it.

I agree, I either smile and wave or just ignore people. Once in a while I'll blow a kiss. :X

"What I do on my own that

"What I do on my own that doesn't affect you" applies to soooo many aspects of life. . .

Gee.  I've always wanted to

Gee. I've always wanted to subscript a post with the word "SCORE!" I never actually met snide, smug, arch-conventional word thugs before. Thanks for the experience.

I didn't read the thread, too

I didn't read the thread, too busy, but I get the jest. This is one of the main reasons why I wanted a place to call our own, so we can support one another without someone trying to derail us.

I cant understand the

I cant understand the defensive attitude so many of the posters in that thread have towards BFR. And how come you never meet any of these people in person?

Seriously. (insert sarcasm here) Not condescending or arrogant at all.

you can never win an

you can never win an arguement buy fighting with someone. agree with them and it takes their power away. sometimes they may end up agreeing with you or apologizing, not always but it can happen. we need to remember to relax at all times in life, not just when running.

Mike, you ask why you don't

Mike, you ask why you don't meet these folks in life. Just luck, maybe. Actually, face to face encounters tend to engage more of a person's mind, including the good manner glands. In real life I'm much less ornery and contentious than I am here.

I think my favorite response

I think my favorite response on this thread was about the "origional" marathon man 4500 years ago...asserting he wore shoes, leather sandles.....this is not true...the greeks, especially warriors, did NOT wear shoes, the only time greeks wore shoes was to give them height while they were actors on the stage....and sometimes aristocratic women would "decorate" their feet....but no warrior in battle, running, sport, or otherwise wore shoes....

Alexandar the Great concqured the known world with a barefoot army. The Romans, however, are a diffrent story.

Yes I got pulled into the

Yes I got pulled into the form when I saw them trashing the injured runner.

I said things I would not face to face. Good bad and ugly.

Good to be on friendly ground.
