HOHOHO.

No, but really, do you like to read? What kind of books do you like?

I'm currently reading Jack Keruoac's "Wake Up". I'm liking it a lot, and me being young and impressionable, I can see it having a positive impact.

So, what are you reading?

Just finished Eat Pray Love

Just finished Eat Pray Love then rented the movie I liked it so much.

AND Born to Run - what a fun book. So much information and the story had us cheering!

One of the men who works at our Nature Center actually ran with and knows the little brujita "Jen" . He said she is a really nice person and is an amazing runner.

Currently reading "The Count

Currently reading "The Count of Monte Cristo", but I recently read "UltraMarathon Man" by Dean Karzanes - awesome book! I have to stop reading running books, 'cuz now I want to run an ultra! I got into barefooting because I read "Born to Run".

Born to Run, The Barefoot

Born to Run, The Barefoot Running Book, and Primal Blueprint. I also love my Kindle. It's like having an entire library with you wherever you go. I bought it on a lark, and like cell phones, it's one of those things that once you have it, you wonder how you ever did without one. I guess I am a halfhearted tech junkie.

OTOH, because of the kindle I have read more books in the last year than I have ever read in my life. I like that.

i really enjoy classic

i really enjoy classic literature such as jules verne's books or moby dick, "the histories" by Herodotus (written around 300 B.C. i think), stuff like that. I primarily break out my nerd factor and read the fantasy genre. Im currently reading "the legend of drizzt" series by R.A. Salvatore. I would also highly suggest George R.R. Martin, and J.R.R. Tolkien is a must. Other than that self-improvement books are interesting and science based things are nice, so stephen hawking is always a good choice.

Long story short fantasy, classics, and books where ya learn something.

I could go on for a very long time about books so im gunna cut myself short, essentially i love to read. so long as its well written and not a romance novel im happy.

"Feet in the Clouds" by

"Feet in the Clouds" by Richard Askwith.

I now want to go "fell" running but figure it can wait until I can do more than 1/2 mile barefoot. The fell running described is particular to the UK but I am sure that every country must have their own near equivalent.

It is not a book about barefoot but interesting that some of the early runner(s?) did practice barefoot over remote fells (hills) to save their plimsolls (minimal running shoe from way way before Nikes etc.) for "the day".

A fine read.

:santa:

I'm on "Talking to Girls

I'm on "Talking to Girls About Duran Duran" by Rob Scheffield...I'm a bit of a music-head so I always have something by him or Chuck Klostermann or an artist's bio by my bedside. Music critics are just so freggin CLEVER!

Christmas is always a good time for new books, currently Im reading Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods, that will be followed by another of his A short History of Nearly Everything.

"A Short History of Nearly Everything" is seriously one of my favorite books ever. He really is a talented story teller. I should start reading some of his other books.

The Non-Runner's Marathon

The Non-Runner's Marathon Guide - good stuff for marathon training, always rereading Jason's The Barefoot Running Book, Life by Keith Richards.

 I am reading 3 different

I am reading 3 different books on keeping bees, Anne Rice's book Angel Time although its not like her vampire or witch stories but still worth reading so far.

I was just telling my 14 year old nephew to read "The Count of Monte Cristo".

Kerouac is great :) I love Dharma Bums :)

Peanut, I loved both Eat.

Peanut, I loved both Eat. Pray. Love and Born to Run

I'm currently reading Peony in Love and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

within a month, my reading will be limited to a rotation of these :http://www.amazon.com/wishlist/1YNWT7J92W1NQ/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go

Master program begins Jan. 19th

I just finished Carol Deppe's

I just finished Carol Deppe's "The Resilient Gardener" -- great read for anyone interested in that grey area between gardening and homesteading. Also just read Jose Saramago's "The Gospel According to Jesus Christ", which was sacrilicious. Next up is James Kunstler's "Witch of Hebron" and all the readings I have to teach over the course of the next four months. Yikes...better get a jump on that...

just finished "Black Swan

just finished "Black Swan Green" by David Mitchell - genius! also loved 'The Cloud Atlas,' also by David Mitchell.

Just started 'Kavalier & Clay' by Michael Chabon... really enjoying it so far.

last book about running that I read was Haruki Murakami's "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" - what he describes and discusses in this book is really close to my reality as a runner, though he has about 30 more years worth of experience than i do. It's not a 'heroic' book like Born To Run...

I just picked up some fun

I just picked up some fun fiction, Unseen Academicals, by Terry Pratchett.

When I head to the library this week, is there any specific Kerouac book I should request first? I haven't read any, but I've been meaning to. I'll have to try out the inter-library loan system to get 'em.
