I was shopping at Walmart, barefoot for probably like the fourth time. All the other times, there was no problem, I was in and out. But this time, an employee gives me this disgusted look and tells me to wait outside because I was barefoot. Supposedly, she was a manager (at least that's what she said).
I told her that I have checked their policy and there was nothing about needing shoes. And there's actually an anti-discrimination policy. But she persisted and said "it's like a restaurant". So I just left it at that and left the store, no need to argue. When I got home, I contacted Walmart support about it and they told me that that should not have happened in the first place and it should not happen again. I haven't been at that Walmart again yet, though.
So the support was really nice and even gave me a $10 off code, which was a complete surprise for me. Hopefully the supposed manager may actually learn about their own policies. I find it quite weird that you're able to be a manager for a company and not even have to know their own policies.
Anyway, I just wanted to post this so maybe if anyone else has a similar encounter. Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself.
