Mileage Reporting Week 23 (Jun 7 - Jun 13)

Boulder and I did a 5.5 mile run at 5:00 am. During part of it we had slight drizzle on us. We spotted rabbits, coyote, white crane and heard one screech owl. Most excellent run.

5 miles yesterday- 4 on the beach and 1 mile of roadwork. Another beautiful day with sun, temps in the 80's and a light ocean breeze. Surprisingly, my calves have been asymptomatic this year after a couple of runs in the sand. In years past I would get quite a bit of calf soreness after my first few beach runs. My hips are feeling it though because my run times have coincided with high tide which forces you higher up on the beach with a greater sloped surface. Next week I should get a few runs in around low tide which should be a little kinder to my hips and back.

Run Streak Day 172: 6.25 miles. 2021 miles 520.87

Since today is barefootcrew5k Thursday, I decided to run a 5k for each foot.

I ran my normal 5 mile downtown / boardwalk run but added on 1.2 miles in the sand to get to the 10k. This run had a little of everything - asphalt, concrete, wooden boardwalk, sand, metal curb at the drawbridge and even some grass at the one section of asphalt too torn up to run on. I started my run at 6:30 which was towards the end of the partial solar eclipse. The peak was around 5:50. I was up and looked out of my balcony that faces east but there were too many clouds on the horizon to see anything. Once at the boardwalk, I took a picture of the sky which was pretty but still the eclipse was not visible.

Garmin stats are 6.25 miles in 55:31 for an avg pace of 8:53. Training effect was 3.5 with an avg HR of 149.

The pictures are taken at the 2 on the satellite image.
