Hello fellow barefooters, I'm Emil, new in the neighborhood. So nice to be here among people who like me, enjoy the barefoot life indoor and specially outdoors.
I've found this site by looking for info about some troubles I had trying to run barefoot again after the pandemic, I was very concerned about my condition so I looked for info so I found this interesting site.
Here is my problem.
Barefoot since my happy childhood until current days entering my early 40, being working in the past 10 years I haven't the chance to some barefoot walking and I became sedentary. So about 2 months ago I tried again but not only walking but running BF at least 10km 2 times a week, I pushed myself so hard that I hurt myself, my knees, ankles and my left foot big toe.
I was doing well but I am out since 3 weeks ago, I barely can step on my left foot barefoot, but shod I walk normally, my foot doesn't hurt too much anymore so I think it is some psychological disorder and a little fear to step properly. Of course this is causing me problems in my knees and my balance. I decided to rest until this weekend and then try again several kilometers but not running, just walking at average speed, barefoot of course.
I really hope I could walk normally and then run as I always did in the past, I'm not that old to have these problems, not fat either, maybe I pushed myself too hard without the proper training, or at least just walk before run. The pandemic made me lazy and sedentary so I desperately need to recover my body again, and running barefoot without any problems is my goal before mid year.
If anyone have any advice on this I will appreciate it, I know I must re-learn to walk before run, and must warm my legs before pushing hard.
All right, that's it, thanks for accepting me in this community.
