An ultra-endurance athlete from Navan who successfully took on the challenge of running a 50-mile marathon barefoot says the experience connected him with his son who tragically passed away away he was just one-day old.

On September 27th Ian Lawton (49) completed just under two full marathons running 33 2.5km loops on the Hill of Tara totalling 81km in an incredible time of 13 hours.

Great job there.
It also it a rebuttal to the constant question of "Where do you get your protein".
It would be the animal protein that made him obese in the first place.
I've been vegetarian for 40 years and totally plant based for the last 5 years and so far I'm in better shape than my meat eating acquaintances. It seems that there is a correlation between the amount of meat consumed and worse health.
I have little time for the Paleo fad where there is no science to back it up. I think you would find in the Paleo era humans would be lucky to live past 40. The biggest expansions of human populations have been caused by the consumption of grains from agriculture whether rice, wheat, corn etc.
So, congratulations to Ian for raising some money for the animal sanctuary, they sure need it.
Cheers

Neil
