At what Pace should you increase distance to stay safe ?

Hello peeps,
So I got up early this morning, hit my calfs with massage gun and then took pip out for a run and stopped when I hit 5k. It felt amazing till I stopped then found out that my feet where numb as it was 5 degrees and walked home.... feet feel a little sore but no cuts or blisters and Achilles feels ok so far...
Question, is the sore bit normal as its only my 2nd run without five fingers on ??? Will my feet Toughen up over time ?

It's gonna be two things : your feet will build resilience (fat pads, but also muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones), but, even better, you're gonna learn to run with more precision , wich means less damages in your feet (and maybe in your whole body, and maybe more efficiency)

Yes, it's normal. The soles of your feet will toughen faster than any other part of your lower body. When that happens, it's easy to overdo it and listening to your body becomes even more important. Muscles also strengthen quickly, but bone, tendon, and connective tissue strengthens slowly. That's what will limit your ability to increase speed and distance.

So this is the only injury i stained from yesterday mornings barefoot run.....
I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t from bad form or just that it was my 2nd barefoot run

Don't count on it. Feet get more resistant to punctures and lacerations but will never get "tough" enough to avoid blisters or tenderness from excess friction. The only way to avoid that is managing that ground friction. I spent a year thinking "I guess I need my feet to get tougher" and that just beat the hell out of my feet. Run like your skin is made of wet paper. That won't just teach you how to avoid that painful, tender feeling from excess friction but it'll optimize your efficiency.

That's a good point. If it takes more than a month to toughen, you're doing something wrong ...

Thanks guys, day off today so I’m going out with the wife for a run, bit warmer this morning at 13 degrees !!! The wife is slow but hoping that i can work on my form at a slower speed !!!!!
I’ll let you know how I get on.... Bit nervous if I’m honest . I think is cause I’m worried that I will hurt myself and put my progress back !!!
