I don't really know why I'm doing true barefoot... I've done minimalist for years - about 15 years in fact. And I always said I just couldn't do the barefoot thing as my feet are too bony. Maybe it's a genetic thing. But I find with every barefoot walk lately my feet are getting more tolerant - a few weeks ago i tried to walk through a wood in my local park. I was in absolute agony - the path is made up of dirt mixed with gravel and broken cobbles. Today I walked the whole thing barefoot - and pretty quickly too. Couple of bits I sucked my underpants up my ass crack but on the whole the difference is astonishing - these bony feet feel quite fat now. And it feels good to challenge them too. I've got such a head start here if I'm ever going to commit myself, now's definitely the time! I've run a few miles on easy tarmac barefoot too - my stride definitely becomes more fluid without a shadow of a doubt. I'm feeling quite chuffed with myself but more importantly, I'm inspired to carry on and see how far I can take it...

I absolutley love this post! That's what we hope new barefoot runners would experience, the challenge before the reward.

"Couple of bits I sucked my underpants up my asscrack..." :hilarious:. Hysterical!

First good laugh of the day, thanks for that...and strangely enough I completely understand the sensation you describe!

It is pretty cool to revisit stretches of trail that previously caused grief and you have that realization that you’re cruising through with minimal discomfort.
