Hi all,
I've been trying to run around 30 minutes most days (at least four times / week) on the treadmill - barefoot and not particularly hard. I also did a tiny barefoot run over gravel and pavements the other day. In a normal week I'd run maybe two or three times, in minimalist and outside in a wooded area, so my habits have completely changed.

Yesterday (after treadmill), I noticed a sort of "bruised" feeling on the sole of my foot, right at the front, just between the big and second toe. It's gone away really quickly. Is it just the muscles / skin / nerves adjusting, or is it bad technique?

Hi there,
It may be that you have just run a bit harder than normal and stretched some of the ligaments in the foot. That has happened to me on occasions where I have been feeling really good and speeding along then the next day it feels a bit tender to stand on. It will probably fade away over a week.
Just keep monitoring it to see if it lessens in a seeks time.

Neil

Hi Neil,
Thanks ever so much for replying - you've reassured me
I've definitely run more, and quite probably harder recently. The treadmill is relentless, and the body has to shout rather than whisper if it's had enough. Guess this was a shout.
