Another 8.4km loop around the lake mid-week + a couple of gym sessions (in xero's) which I don't tend to record. The run was a bit wet again, so plenty of puddle splashing with a little bit of mud squelching thrown in for good measure. -Good run!...:)

It’s been while! But I have been running barefoot though my mileage is down. Completed four miles today with Efrem during our monthly barefoot run around Lake Merritt in Oakland. Since Wednesday, I have logged a total of 14 miles. Need to build running miles up again. On the other hand, I have been doing strength training at the gym and they let me do it barefoot so I stay barefoot from one activity to another!

On saturday I did a 30km trail in the hills of Nijmegen in the eastern area of the Netherlands.
It was really a beautiful track so i had a real good time!

The first 7k i did barefooted, but then their was gravel and stones on the tracks so I switched to Vibrams.

Man, I can't understand those messages I see here from time-to-time about running on gravel. I keep trying, but it's hard and it makes my heart-rate go up - i can't run relaxed when there's gravel.
How do I improve this?
Grow thicker skin?
Work on flexibility of my feet? When i see all those nice toe-exercises - they seem totally unfeasible for me, I can't move my toes independently or whatsoever. Would that help? I have a motivation problem to do those foot/toe exercises, I feel it doesn't directly contribute to my running.

Any advise?

Boulder and I did 5 miles Thursday.
We did another 5 miles Sunday.
Sunday we spotted a spectacular sunrise cool clouds with rosey red colors. We also spotted lots of cedar wax wings a few woodpeckers, one hawk, a few groups of green parrots and lots of rabbits and squirrels.
.
I haven't tried running in gravel in along time barefoot. We usually do concrete and asphalt. We do not have any trails close enough to make regular outings on.
We do come across some rough terrain and I focus on relaxing and it seems to make it much better. I to do not get into toe and feet exercises either (I used to).

I entered a local race this last weekend (well reasonably local anyway!). -10km circuit of the Draycote Lake in the Midlands in the UK.

I’ve done this one before, during last Summer, but thought I’d give it a go in the back of Winter instead just for a change…

It’s not a bad route –quite picturesque, and the surface is mostly pretty friendly tarmac with just a couple of rough patches here and there. It is however very open and therefore was fairly windy and wet as well this weekend. Overall still a pretty good run though (finished in exactly 1hr).

I’ll try and post a picture of the bling –if I can remember how to do that!...;)

Gravel can be quite tricky can't it (at least it can for me)!
The only thing I've found that makes a difference for me is to slow right down (attempting it at speed is, as you say, hard to relax with). Somewhere just above almost walking pace works for me. -Just my own approach; no science involved whatsoever!...:)
