We went 3 miles Tuesday at 5:00 am 75 deg. f. 89% Rh..
We did not see many critters about.
The skies were partly cloudy and the moon looked cool between the clouds.:D

Ran 4 miles through the scenic road yesterday afternoon here at the Chadron State Park where we are camping for the week. The asphalt road through the park is fairly steep in a couple places and ended up being quite a work out. Enjoying the low humidity levels compared to back home. Saw some deer and many wood peckers, hawks, blue jays, and turkey here in the park. Lots of big crows squawking from high up in the pine trees. Sounds nice.

Traveled an hour from the park we are camping in to Toadstool Geologic Park and had an enjoyable time walking barefoot on the trails and hills in the park while my wife wore flip flops. Very fun place to be barefoot as there are verious textures and surfaces for barefoooting. I definitely will be back again sometime to explore more areas. Interesting place that’s fore sure. Did not see any rattle snakes thank goodness!

Ran the scenic roadway here in Chadron State Park again this evening. Very enjoyable evening as the temps were dropping from the high of 84 degrees this afternoon. Asphalt felt nice and warm on my soles as I ran and proved to be very relaxing. Saw some horses that are the ones used for the trail rides through some of the park trails. Ended up running 5.25 miles and did not struggle as much up the steep hills today. Yea!

Did not run yesterday afternoon as a thunderstorm rolled through the area. Did walk up a scenic horse trail through the par k earlier in the day. The trail consisted of about 1 inch of powdered clay soil that was nice to walk on. Almost no road apples present so that was a big plus. Ended up walking a total of 5 miles including the scenic drive road through the park.

So back out over the weekend. Just fancied running without thinking about pace or any pre-set distance etc... Ended up doing 13.3km and felt pretty good throughout.
-Had to take a slight detour from the path at one point - the area was being set up for a 'fun run' later in the day and one of the lorries carrying water managed to crash through one of the wooden bridges around the lake -too heavy! Nobody injured fortunately so no problem just to run the long way round instead...(slightly different from seeing just the usual squirrels & geese, etc...;)).

Powdered clay soil sounds nice.. I wouldn't mind running on that...:barefoot:

Finally back to my regular mileage last week at 46.2 total. I finally decided it was OK to feel really fatigued and run 15-25 mpw for a month after completing both a 50k and 27 mile trail run in July! The last two weeks I finally felt non-tired.

My little town has been doing a lot of road construction and laying down some fresh rock for chip seal roads so unshod has been challenging. And I'm treating a plantar wart on my right heel which really hurts whenever a rock hits it just right. That's been keeping me in sandals for most of my runs but once I get the wart dealt with I'll get in more unshod.

Had a PB Saturday for a 13.1 miler: 2:04! I haven't raced a HM for 6 or so years and when I did I came in at 2:06 so pretty pleased to be able to take two minutes off that just on a training run. My HR was a bit elevated over my easy range but felt really comfortable and had negative splits: started at 10 min/mil and ended at 9 min/mile. I'm hoping if I stay smart and safe this means a sub 4hr marathon in late October.
