They're fighting for your right to go barefoot – wherever, whenever

“They've lost the protective function of the shoes so they might step on something they didn't realize was on the ground or drop something on their feet. It's less of a risk from a public health standpoint as it is for the person going barefoot.” When it comes to businesses and restaurants, policies ...

I think this would work better in a less litigious society. Because, I can see someone walking into the store, stubbing their toe on the display and then suing...so I get where stores and restaurants are coming from.

For me it’s the public restrooms that get me squidgy. I’ve stood shod on more pee soaked floors than I wish to remember. Would not want to do that S2G..

If we barefooters stub our toe on a display, then it's our own fault, and we should take ownership of our own injury. If the store left something out in an area (like a usual traffic area) that could hurt you barefoot or shod, then they should be responsible for it. Sandals offer limited protection, but they allow you to wear them into the store. High heels are dangerous on any surface, but they allow you to wear them into the store. Here's an example: You reach for an item on a shelf at the grocery store. You cut your hand. You find there's a broken jar on the shelf. The store is responsible for this, but did they require you to have gloves on before you entered the store? Stores are responsible for keeping their facilities clean and safe. Unfortunately, too many people don't take accountability when they should.

Just so you take your shoes off before you enter your home, right? :yuck:
