So I'm now in contact with the president of the Autism Society of America and he said he would help plan some fun things for the 2018 Barefoot Autism Challenge. But what ideas do you guys have? Feel free to comment and let me know what works for you guys and I'll pass it on over to ASA.
I really like the idea of a group barefoot presence at an autism event! A good way to reach out to others on the spectrum to let them know the benefits of better proprioception and sensory integration. We always go to the walk at the Mall of America here in MN so to do that there might mean making sure the MOA doesn't have some weird rule against barefoot or at least will make an exception for the event.

Well there have been some people who have gone barefoot at Mall of America. In fact there was a barefoot event there yesterday. Security did talk to them and asked them to leave however. But some people had shoes in case they were asked.
Got some ideas for fun activities to do for the BAC, and the meeting with the Autism Society affiliates will be in two days. So we'll discuss the possibilities and once they're finalized, I'll update everyone.
So the other Autism Society affiliates were intrigued by my challenge, and one person from the Autism Society of America said that January 17th, she'd help me with making fliers and other things to get the word out.
Well, here we go again. Somebody from the Des Moines Chamber wants me to come by some of their events and share my challenge with everybody! And today I have the phone meeting with Scott. So pray that it all goes well!
So I talked with Scott. Due to the person he said wanted to help with me as far as promoting my challenge goes was unable to come in because of weather conditions, we have tentatively moved our call to tomorrow afternoon. But don't worry. We'll have all the updates before April rolls around. Trust me!
So the people who are on the Autism Society development staff who are helping me with the challenge are Matt Asner (comedian Ed Asner's relative) Lindsey Nebeker from the PBS special Autism in Love, and Kayleigh Millet. They are very good with promoting things related to autism and we're going to talk again come February.
Okay so yesterday I was at the Autism Advocacy Day on the Hill. And of course they wanted me to talk about the Barefoot Autism Challenge. Anyways I talked about it, and there were a bunch of people asking me about it and wanting to do it. Even to the point of them giving me their business cards so I can give them more information about it. The like count on the page is over 900 even. We're almost to 1000! I can't believe it!
So I tried filming a new promotional video for my challenge, but there was a bit of background noise, plus it was windy so you can't really hear me that well. But I'll be working with Kris Steinmetz on a good location for the new video and maybe have a microphone to use as well.
Okay so I talked with Kayleigh and Lindsey from the Autism Society of America, and they said they liked what my challenge is doing so far. And once I have a new video for it, they'll share it on the Autism Society of America page so that way everyone will see it. They were also happy other affiliates were reaching out to me. And they also said if I wanted to join them at their summer conference, I could. We'll see what happens.
