Who else is getting these winds?

We have been getting pounded for the last couple of days with gusts up to 60 miles an hour they say. The sun is out today but I have never experienced winds like this inland! I am pretty amazed we have not lost electricity or had a tree come down! Five miles this morning and coming back into the wind was a blast!

We have winds here, but not

We have winds here, but not nearly that bad, maybe at about 35 mph. I heard there was a risk around Michigan and the Great Lakes area for water cyclones?

When I drove into town a

When I drove into town a little while ago (6 miles south) there was a house with the roof blown off leaning against a storage barn in the backyard and the ceiling insulation blowing in the wind. I went on my garage roof this afternoon to repair some facia that was coming loose before it blew off. I think it is suppose to start letting up sometime this evening. Crazy!

  Had winds here Monday

Had winds here Monday morning that knocked down trees, snapped telephone and power poles, flipped RV's, tore roofs off of houses and leveled a couple of businesses, The winds were 65 mph with gusts reported up to 120 mph!

I've got major damage to the roof, and to some outdoor seasonal stuff that I should have put away by now.

Been in this house 26 years, never saw wind screaming across the lake like this before.

I'll climb up and assess the damage as soon as it calms down, probably tomorrow after work.

I always had believed in ultra high deductables, oh well, my gamble finaly lost.

Don't worry, feet happy.

Yes, don't worry -- feet

Yes, don't worry -- feet happy.

LBI have recently become

LB

I have recently become that high deductable guy based on a chimney fire my agent said I might as well pay or my premiums will go up.

I live on the north side of the lake and the winds have been pounding my house but things seem to be settling down now. I have been here since 99 and never experienced multiple days of these kinds of winds like the past two days. Be safe out there!

Too windy today to go up on

Too windy today to go up on the roof, maybe tomorrow.

So far I think the damage to the van and cars from shingles hitting them is superficial.

My old 46 lb windsurfer went airborn, but is repairable.

The table we sat at when you were here hit the house, came close to smashing through the glass door.

The rest of the outdoor furniture is damaged beyond repair.

I should have tried for a straightline downwind PR mile, never thought of that though.

Board sorry to hear about the

Board sorry to hear about the damage! Thank god the table did not go through the door. That would have been a mess. I removed everything that could turn into a projectile lakeside Monday. On a positive note I am not going to have to do do much more leaf removal from the yard. There is hardly any left on the trees and almost everything blew into the wetlands behind the house. Good luck getting everthing back together.

Yep, the leaves that were on

Yep, the leaves that were on the ground are all gone, but we're a little further south than you so some trees still have all their leaves despite the wind. Can't get out of leaf raking completely I guess.

Tomorrow I'll see how bad the roof is, and decide what I'm going to do about it.

It was one rogue gust that

It was one rogue gust that did the damage here, and it was over 70 mph sustained for up to 15 seconds.

I believe it, because my "stuff" has survived 60 mph before, always associated with a thunderstorm.

The difference is that these straight line winds were accompanied by sunshine!

My sister just told me of her

My sister just told me of her *delightful* trip back from Thunder Bay, ONT to Sudbury, ONT. It's normally a 12 hour journey but last Tuesday it took her 18. Constant, but very slow, motion.
