For all those living south of the equator now is your time to enter the winter barefoot challenge.

8th Annual Winter Challenge

Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you run or walk at least 1/3 of a mile in one outing.

Challenge yourself and run/walk in the cold or even the snow.

Southern Hemisphere the challenge runs from April 1 2017 to Sept 31, 2017
Northern Hemisphere the challenge runs from Oct 1 2017 to March 31 2018

RULES
1. All runs/walks must be BAREFOOT
2. Temperature with windchill must be less than or equal to 50°F (10°C)
3. Any run/walk of 1/3 mile (0.5 km) or over can be counted
4. Add your total distance and runs in the appropriate temperature range on the following spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p-1XlNyz8B5Wj9MLxA5Sc5m2BTy0_QDda_Ti7aUdtdI/edit?usp=sharing

(Qualifying runs already done can be added to the spreadsheet.)

Select 'Units' (km or mi.) Total distances will be converted to MILES. You will need to convert the temperatures manually to °F. NEW I have added in the top right header a temperature calculator that will convert from ºF to ºC for those who do not use ºF (for the whole world but the USA)

Wind Chill Calculator

Awards
Everyone who enters will receive a Winter Challenge medal. A winners medal will also be awarded for the one who covers the most miles on foot on each continent and a World Champion for most miles overall. We also award a Frosty Foot medal for the one who runs/walks in the lowest temperature. Below is a sample of this years participate medals:

Hi Dana, thanks for the 2017-2018 link! Looks like we'll soon be hitting Winter Challenge weather here in Paris ;-)

Could I just request that you update the titles above to reflect the new Northern Hemisphere challenge, please? The link to the spreadsheet is correct.

Thanks! (I mean "Merci !")

Oh wow - thanks!!

I'm embarrassed - I just realized that you had posted this in the New Zealand chapter, which sort of changes the context...

TJ, if you are reading this, could we put together a BRS-wide starting point for the Winter Challenge? Like a Chapter President thread? That way each Chapter could relay independently to their members.

And thanks Dana for relaying the info above - I did a simple BRS-wide search on "Winter Challenge" and landed pretty much by chance on this thread. Was so excited I started typing ;-) Typical me...

Thanks!

Do you mean create a forum in the Chapters area called the Winter Challenge? Please email me in case I miss this again. Thanks!
