Minimalist shoes for middle school cross country?

I was very happy to see you still running the show, TJ! I've been working, have 3 kids now - 2 boys in scouts and sports, etc. You know the drill!

I've been out of the loop for so long I figured I'd just ask what people are using now. He'd love to run barefoot, but I'm pretty certain the school won't go for it - plus he's a private school kid running on the public school team. I don't want to make waves...yet. (evil laugh) there's gotta be something new since I took my leave of absence.

Being incredibly lazy, I'll just ask here - any particular vff models that would be better for cross country/trail type running? When I last looked at them, the KSOs were the newest offering. (Told you it's been a while!)

I've not been running much at all. I'll probably get back into it, since the boys like it so much.

Ok...i've been looking at the Vffs and the Altas, and unless I'm missing something, I cant find anything that would fit a youth size 6. Looks like NB minimus is also a No go. Is there another subforum that's more active than this one? I can't be the first one to run into this...
