Hi! I have signed up for a 50km trail race in Singapore. Obviously most of the race will be on trails so can't do the usual barefoot thing.
I have been experimenting with Xero Z-Trail which have worked well during a very dry South African Summer but I don't like them in wet conditions as there is a constant tiny bit of slippage between the sandal and foot (blisters?), and don't feel very stable on cambered surfaces. I can assume the sandals will get wet, either through rain (3000mm/year!) or sweat (100% humidity in the forest).
The option that I do like is the Inov8 TrailRoc 235's (zero drop) but would like to do the race in more minimalist footwear. Is there a minimalist shoe/sandal that does well in wet, hot conditions and has a broad toe box?

I've got the red ones and the lugs work great in mud. Haven't worn them much though so can't really give an honest review yet.
Primus Trail SG. Those do look very minimal with serious lugs.

I replaced my Innov-8 x-talons because the toe box was just too restrictive in width. I've got the red Vivobarefoot Primus Trail SG as well. They do grip well in the mud and have a lovely wide toe box. I think their sizing is true as well with my normal shoe size fitting well. They did give me a nasty sore on the big toe knuckle, where the side rubber strip creases inwards when you bend your toes. I ended up wearing them with socks. The Vivobarefoot Primus Road have superb feel - they are really stripped out and lots of mesh for ventilation - if you can live without lugs for grip then I absolutely recommend them - they run very nicely.

I ran 22k yesterday in my VFF KMD and for the first time really enjoyed them. I have run twice with them 8 months ago or so and they have been lying at the back of closet since them.

It was a very wet trail run with a cloudburst in the first 10 minutes lasting 45 minutes. We were literally running in streams for the first hour the whole way. My wettest run to date by far. I think I have found something that I like for the usually steamy tropics but need a run in more normal hot, sweaty, humid conditions, (the rain made it pleasantly cool!)

Oh, and no blisters, hotspots etc!!

Had a pair of Vivo Neo Trails in size 47 (13 US). They fit like a 11.5 US! Nice shoe but sizing was way off.
