Hi! Heading for the end of the year, heh?

It was a national holiday today and we had spring-like weather, so it would have been a waste not going out.
I run for 10.5 km @ 6:08 min/km and it felt great. I had rained the previous days, so I looked for all the mud I can find in my way :D

Cheers!

5.75 miles Sunday at 1:00 pm. I slept in due to rain.
4 miles Tuesday drizzle all the way. I though it would be a drag at first but after a while I went with it and it turn out excellent.

7.8km today as the day dawned.
Temperatures seem to be all over the place at the moment -back up to around 9-10 degC this morning, having been sub zero just a couple of days back. It must have been noticeably milder because the local fitness group that I usually run past appeared to have considerably more numbers than normal.
It made for a nice run anyway even though it was wet. Took it fairly steady today on pace -just didn't really feel like being in a rush when I got up!
Good run & looking forward to getting back out at the weekend:)..

@Lorri usually its Monday-Sunday but we got off a day a couple weeks back. In any case it's nothing official you can report as if it was Sun-Sat if you rather do it that way really makes no difference ;) we used to just say week 1, 2, 3 etc without specifying the range so it didn't really matter. I think we started using the range just to better identify what week it was since most folks don't really know what week it really is just saying 'week 49'.

As for me I took the earlier part of the week off since I was working long dayshifts, which also helped give my calf some time to recover from whatever I did to it on my long run last week. Thursday is my only day off this week and I went out for easy 3 miles. Back out again today for 3.5, would have went longer today but pressed for time. Calf seems to be mostly back to normal, but I'll just be doing easier runs for a while to make sure. No races until next spring so probably will do more MAF style running over winter.

Oh and it was my first shod :( runs this week (minimally shod though, of course). Temps in 20's with windchills down in teens, plus a couple inches of snow today. If it wasn't so windy I would have tried barefoot.

It is a frozen land here. I managed my first run of the week outdoors, but since then it has been way too icy. Put in 9.9 miles on the treadmill in my Sockwas (gym requirement), but just relaxed into it and it was pretty decent. That made 21.4 miles for the week.

Took a drive to a nearby park today to run a completely new route with my running partner.
I think it's one of the local parkrun routes, so we did about 5.3km to & from the car park. -Was quite an undulating route, with lots of small hills and various twists & turns. A bit cold & wet this morning too, but actually quite a nice easy run. The terrain was a bit broken up in places, but nothing that you couldn't pick your way through without too much bother.
Lots of dog walkers out today -and a very friendly council worker clearing out the bins, who did his best to cheer us on to the finish with a 'Merry Christmas' to boot!....

but since then it has been way too icy
Funny you should mention that, on my run Friday I almost bit it when I moved over as a car approached that didn't yield, driving close to the edge right at me. The roads here are pretty narrow, not much shoulder besides what angles down into the ditch. As I moved over the narrow bit of grass before the ditch was covered in snow and apparently not quite flat underneath as one of my legs went out right as the car was approaching only feet away. Luckily it only required a bit of arm flailing and I regained my balance as the car zipped by probably within arms reach. That was a bit startling. About a mile later I had another incident... this time I went down and got a face full of snow lol. No harm done except to my pride. I don't recall if I've ever fallen before... maybe once or twice but its very rare. Darn shoes! I love my Soft Stars but the street soles are treadles and slick if its slippery conditions. I may have to finally consider something else.

Saturday I had to skip running due to time. And Saturday night I started getting sick while at work. Sinuses and throat are pretty sore. Today I slept in all the way till I had to get ready for work, needed every bit of rest I could get. Feeling a bit better today, but that left me with a pretty low mileage week, only around 6.5 miles. :meh: But that is ok I needed a rest week. I'm hoping this bug passes quickly too since I only have Mon-Wed to run next week, it'll be another low mileage week. I've already run a lot more miles than I have in any previous year, broke 1,000 miles for the first time ever so I am really happy about that. I was trying to get some high mileage weeks in still but I guess I can leave the 1200 mile goal for another year.

Ran Thursday night & Saturday night. Conservative estimate is, say, 12.2 miles barefoot each time. Plus a few blocks in Xeroshoes as a warm-up. Under 50 degrees with some sources of artificial heat from time to time. Fingers getting less nimble due to cold, and small toes losing some feeling. On Saturday night I started to hit patches of salt on sidewalk, both sodium chloride rock salt (ouch) as well as pellets of calcium chloride. I don't like either very much, but so far it's not too bad. Tonight, Sunday, was the first sprinkling if snow. So I will count it as 24.4 miles barefoot for this week.

Hope you feel better soon! I use Sockwas in wet and slightly icy, but there is a point at which no footwear helps! and it is best to stay inside! So glad that incident with the car wasn't worse!
