World Records of Barefoot running

Hello everybody!

we are planning to organize World Records of Barefoot running -statistics by web and we are looking for volunteers.

WRB -statistics is not unreasonably large work, but we need according to few persons, internationally.
That way this will become more reliable.

If you are involved in some national barefoot running organization and would like to participate in the WRB -job also, please contact me by email: [email protected]. Tell me Your name, country, national/local barefoot association and interest of barefoot running.

It would be the best if we could have participants from several continents!

I'm a founder of Finnish barefoot running association (Luomujuoksu - Barefoot Finns).

/Would you like to be involved in developing something new?
/So do not hesitate to contact me

Also, everyone, start listing all the records you know about and provide links, so they can be verified by Hannu and the other volunteers of this program. If someone can search the BRS's site for some, that would be helpful.

Nice!
This way we can build records table. First we mark some record, until someone discovers that he was faster and informed on it. There is no any ready source, where all results hang out.

This records table is for norman results, with out extreme performances. Like TJ wrote, 'start listing all the records you know about and provide links', it helps a lot.

Still, I hope few volunteers occur by our project.

I'm kind of a fan of cold-weather tolerance, myself, although here in New York City it's pretty warm, often artificially. And, of course, as a New York Jew I had pre-war relatives from Riga and on up the Daugava river, so: Go, Latvia! The barefoot ultra pictures look great!
That "sprint" may have been the fastest 5K; I don't know. But I think that Wim Hof, the famous daredevil "Ice Man" from the Netherlands had beat him for a longer run in the snow, although I don't know if it was fully documented. His video claims he ran a half-marathon, which would be around 13 miles, and he ran it in Lapland, I guess in Finland, supposedly 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. I'm kind of a fan of his, and of his training methods for temperature resistance, although I've never taken the course he offers in Poland. His barefoot and shirtless climb of Mt. Everest looks pretty impressive, as do his other stunts, such as his heat-resisting run in the California desert. Barefoot Ken Bob posted about some of this years ago.

That reminds me...be sure to check out the Winter Challenges on this site for those who have run different distances in different low temps for those records.

Barefoot Rick Roeber has run 101 barefoot marathons, so that's a record: http://www.barefootrunner.org/
