So one of my friends in a bible study I go to is having an Ugly Prom for her 30th birthday. She said guests could wear ugly formal wear, sandals with socks, or even jeans and whatnot. So I asked her if it was possible that people could come barefoot if they wanted, and she said yes. Though my mom thought it would be awkward for me to do something like that even though she knows I like being barefoot. It's at my friends house (I know because that's where we had a surprise party for her), so I don't know what I should do. What do you guys think? The ugly prom is December 2nd.

I wold personally take this as another opportunity to be barefoot. We may think bare feet works well with a tie, but society doesn't so it would actually be perfect for the theme from most people's perception.
Thanks Dana. Next time I see Leah, I'll ask her again and see if it would still be okay. If my mom still is persistent (she used to work at a clothing store so she may know a thing or too about fashion) I'll just secretly slip off the socks and shoes while I'm inside.

Many things in life will be awkward. But the alternative is to have no adventure, no excitement, no fun. Have some fun, turn some heads, make people question the whole ridiculous idea of fashion.

Thanks Ken. I'll just do what I said at the beginning. Just slip the socks and shoes off while inside!

Okay so the life group didn't meet last night but I got reassurance that my ugly prom outfit would be perfect by two people. Leah (the host) and Andrea. The only thing is with it getting colder in Iowa, I think maybe if I had socks on first then slip them off that might be a bit better so I won't get frost bite. If you guys want to see some pics I'll post them. If you have any more tips for when the ugly prom arrives. Let me know.
