Tuesday 5 miles at 4:45 am.
Thursday 4 miles at 5:00 am 65 deg. f.
The mornings feel really nice outdoors.
Boulder is hanging in there as my running partner.

Wednesday morning 6.8km just around the time the sun comes up (which is past 7am for us now).
Fairly cool, but a really still morning -so the reflection of the early morning sky off of the surface of the lake was quite impressive.
Less impressive was the newly laid repairs to the footpath, which seemed to just comprise loose sharp gravel thrown into the various holes and cracks! -Might have to seek out a new route for a while until that gets bedded in properly!
Overall a good run though -body parts all still in working order:)...

Just some easy runs this week, 5 miles on Monday, a 1.8 mile walk on Tuesday, 2.5 mile jog on Wednesday, and 1.4 mile jog last night. Maybe another easy couple miles before the marathon Sunday. I've been watching what I eat for the most part this week, drinking more fluids, cutting back on caffeine, and for the first time I'm giving up alcohol this week (and very little last week) to see if that makes any difference.

Good luck with your marathon.

The marathon went well! [for the most part]. It was hard to hold back at the beginning, but still was running a pretty modest pace. Walked through a lot of the water stops, and still the legs were toast before hitting the 20 mile mark. Did a few short walks after 20, and finished in 4:10. Almost a half hour slower than my last. Now only time will tell if running this more modestly will help with the 'marathon shuffle' the next few days. I'm trying some more things to help against that too, just took an ice bath. Wowza. :coldfeet: Full write up sometime in the next few days.

That puts me at 41 miles on foot this week, of which 3.7 miles were walking. All barefoot like usual.

@Alan S good luck with the training, hopefully you can get some better training in than I did (of course at this point in the game your training should be well underway I assume).

Thanks! I am coming off of running the Long Beach Marathon a week ago yesterday, all road. Now I am learning new muscles on the trails! Wow my buns are hurting. The Catalina ECO Marathon in November will be my first on trail and I hope it sparks me to become a trail / ultra running addict. Any good tips on running a trail marathon?

Don't take any of my tips, you're better off than I already. My longest run this summer was a single 18 miler (a race) and that knocked me back, taking 2-3 weeks of recovery. I think I'm about at the limit of what I can expect given my work schedule. I also have not been able to run in footwear very well after the relearning to run barefoot, so running most trails for long distances is pretty hard. It's been a long while since I tried though. Hopefully others can have some better advice but sounds like you're doing well and running multiple marathons in a year is great. I can't seem to prepare properly for even 1.

Was on a cruise for these dates. Ran once on the little outdoor track around the pool area just to be able to say I ran in circles in the middle of the ocean. About 5 miles. Definitely got some looks for doing it barefoot, but also some positive hurrahs. Other "training" consisted of dancing 5 of those nights, plus lots of walking to explore when in ports. I swam laps once in the ship's "lap" pool, and once in the ocean for about a 1/4 mile in a roped off area. :watching:
