Blisters

So one time when I walked barefoot, I got blisters from walking on a rough terrain. Treating them was okay but what I want to know is how do you prevent blisters from happening. Any suggestions?

Avoid creating too much friction and avoid hot surfaces. Even when they don't feel too hot, you can feel the burn later.

Avoid very cold surfaces too. Blistering from frostbite can happen.

I get a blister between my big toe and the next toe in. My running coach tells me it is cause I am not activating the proper muscles. I'm been doing some of the things he says and it is making it better, still haven't found time to schedule the stretching and strengthening exercises yet.
