I am stunned by recent developments. My 2 older kids decided that running is actually a GOOD THING and they have jumped in with both feet.

My son, 16, saw a flyer for a 5K Trail Run in October and told me he'd like to do it. Then he asked me to take him for a training run the next morning. That was 2 weeks ago. Last Sunday morning, after staying out until 1 AM, he was up and out with me at 07:00. Even more ...ummm...delightful...I could barely keep up with him on our 2.5 mile run. That's what spotting him 44 years and almost 60 pounds will do. (I'm pretty sure I can still run him into the ground over a longer distance.)

My daughter, 14, after a summer marked mostly by a heavy reading schedule, decided that she would run Cross Country with her school's "Bantam" middle school team. On Tuesday they had their first meet and she not only finished the race running, she came in first on her team by almost 3 minutes! I was marshall at the mile marker of the 2 mile woodsy trail race. She never even glanced up at me as she ran by.

Both of them prefer to run in Vibrams when shoes are required.

That last sentance sounds familiar, I had to do that myself. Glad to hear that they're starting out with some good resources and doing well!

Love this. Your daughter sounds like a born winner! Perhaps they will be running barefoot in the near future.
