I searched around here for some smoothie recipes, but couldn't find any. There was one post about using Chia seeds in them, but I already do that. I'm really trying to lose a few pounds from my mid section and I'm wondering if the smoothie I make every morning isn't as helpful as I think? Basically, I just toss a bannana, some type of berries, plain yogurt and OJ or Pineapple juice in the blender and call it good. I know that the berries are probably very high in sugar, but they're fruit, so they're healthy right? :)

Anybody have any ideas before I turn into a barefoot Jabba The Hut runnin down the road?

You can always use some

You can always use some coconut milk instead of the yogurt. It makes it more tropical and saves a cow from getting slaughtered :) But yeah you have the right idea just throw whatever you can find in there. If you cut and freeze your fruit before hand then you get a cold smoothie. You are talking about fruit so you are safe weight wise.

Actually he should use the yogurt, it will KEEP the cow from getting slaughtered, as long as we are using the milk they have a job, it's when we stop using dairy they start to get laid off and used for other purposes.

Either way I'm OK with it, I like cheese burgers.

You are terrible, Ram! Just terrible!

Nonsense, they get it worse.

Nonsense, they get it worse. They are artificially impregnated, sucked dry of milk and then slaughtered for cheeseburgers. They get the shaft.

I like to throw a handful of spinash or other green with the fruits. You cannot taste it in the smoothie and it saves me from having to eat salad to get my calcium and other good nutrients.

I actually don't think my

I actually don't think my diet is that unhealthy. Chances are if I continue my running journey and drastically reduce my beer intake, my waistline will return. It seems like the majority of hard core runners I know are all in the Army with me and we always drink like it's our last drink no matter what.

We make smoothies all the

We make smoothies all the time here. I'll toss in a handful of raw baby spinach leaves or a half a medium zuchinni to get in some veggies. They're mild so add little flavor to the smoothie. I agree iwth the coconut milk, it's high in fat. Tasty though.

I make my own yogurt and use that, frozen bananas (about 2), a cup of blueberries, few splashes of oj, honey, flax meal, handful of spinach and blend. Delicious!

Here's a couple of my morning

Here's a couple of my morning almost-paleo style smoothies. My favorite is a banana or two, almond butter, a couple of scoops of chocolate whey protein powder, whole milk, and crushed ice. If you want to make it completely paleo, sub the protein powder and milk for cocoa powder and coconut or almond milk. Both are delicious.

For a fruit smoothie, I do a banana, and a mix of blueberries, raspberrys, and blackberries, then either some vanilla whey protein or the coconut or almond milk along with some real vanilla bean, and ice. Also good...

I'm not a real fan of yogurt in smoothies because although it gives you a better texture, it's really high in sugar.

I'm a Herbalife junkie myself

I'm a Herbalife junkie myself (hey...my in-laws sell the stuff so I really had to start buying it.) VERY VERY happy with Herbalife protein shakes! I can have them plain with water, or toss in a few blueberries. I've lost 20 lbs. on them. And the husband lost 100+ lbs...but that's another story.

AGH, I don't want to sound like an informercial here!!!

Problem is you can't really buy Herbalife anywhere but from a distributor, but you can look one up online. Nice people, nice shakes. They don't taste anything like GNC and are made from soy isolate. Very animal-friendly and soft on the stomach.

Also their Wild Berry shake tastes like a Burger King strawberry milkshake. Swear to god! :D

Unless you make your own

Unless you make your own yogurt SP...got a killer recipe for you to try. Check my blog ;)

Make yogurt?  Sounds a little

Make yogurt? Sounds a little to homemaker for me. But I will check your blog, as the daily happenings in the life of Zooooooooooomba do interest me.

oh palease...do you think I'd resort to anything tooo homemaker and difficult SP? I'm a practical woman you know, seriously though.l..ridiculously easy and super yummy! You'll be addicted. I make a half gallon of yogurt each week using a few tbsp of the previous week's batch as a starter.

Oh, and...you'll love my BRS group run entry. lmao I'll get to it eventually:p

I knew I shouldn't've read this thread for fear of salivation. This all sounds so delicious! I guess I know what I'm buying tomorrow morning. Fruit, ...and a blender.
