Finisterre, or "where the land ends". In ancient times, sailors believed there was nothing beyond this point.
We spent a few days in the area and decided to hike from the village of Fisterra to Cape Finisterre lighthouse.

It was a bit less than 10 km. Most of the time the surface was not really pleasant to step on for bare feet. The pictures don't give a real feel of how difficult it was. Trails were covered with sharp, about 1 inch-long, scattered stones so I had to be really careful and watch my steps.
Nonetheless, it was a great experience and I see it as a great achievement.

Here you are a few pics:

Praia do Mar de Fora (Outter Sea Beach). One of the beaches of Fisterra facing the Atlantic Ocean. This pic looks North.

Another sight from the aforementioned rock. This one faces Southeast.

My kids and me. I was surprised they hiked all the way cheerful and happy. No protests whatsoever. They were shod, however.

I carried a pair of VFF with me as a backup. They stayed all the way where I stowed them :p

What a great hike and the views are a bonus. My daughter has tried hiking once barefoot, but she most often goes with shoes these days. I have noticed that running around the yard she is now more often barefoot than not. Glad you made it the whole way with resorting to your backup shoes. Thanks for sharing.
