"So, why barefoot" and related questions....what's your answer?

I'm a fan of the handheld

I'm a fan of the handheld water, too. I don't like the sweaty hand, but there aren't any water fountains on any of my routes and I hate hate hate having a dry mouth when it's hot out. Also, it helps to keep my biceps strong-- carrying a pint of water during each run is a lot of isometric exercise.

I'm not a terribly minimal runner in any way-- Garmin, Sansa, hat, sunglasses, sometimes VFFs get carried around, too. No HRM or dog, though. ;)

when people ask why i run

when people ask why i run barefoot, i say: "because it feels good!"

it creates space for interesting conversation, b/c it's counter-intuitive to most.

but that's what it comes down to, for me. it feels really good.

once i decided to let go of the idea that running had to be a certain way, it totally opened up and became fun and joyful. i'm having a blast rediscovering running and myself along the way, being playful and spontaneous.

I hope I didn't offend those

I hope I didn't offend those of you who carry the whole shabang along with you :O To each their own, my apologies. I'm too ocd to have anything bouncing round on my while I run and feeling/hearing the water slosh around in a water bottle drives me nuts! LOL

Kim, great 'comeback'. It sure does feel good

Hey, another Sansa fan :) Clip, Fuse, View?

I have a Clip. It is particularly great for me because about half my running clothes don't have any pockets. DH also has an older one that has served him really well for like 4 years now.

Short answer: It's fun and feels good!

For a longer answer, add: And it's much easier on my knees and lower back. I wouldn't be still running if not barefoot.
