Monday went out for a moderate 6.4 miles, just trying to loosen the tight legs a bit more from sitting all weekend at the office, and prep for a high mileage week.

Today (Tuesday) did sprint repeats 5 x 1mile. A couple miles of warmup and cooldown in there, and .2 - .25 walks in between. My 1 mile times were 6:35, 6:09, 6:07, 6:16, 7:08, the 5th one was tapering back I was pretty spent. I didn't eat hardly anything yet so I was running a bit empty too. But had to get out there before the storms rolled in. At least it was a bit cooler today. Felt great though, but a little straining around my right ankle towards the end. Might have still been a little tight from the weekend - should have got another run in before doing sprints.

Began my easy week with 6.3 miles on Monday. Wasn't able to do anything Tuesday because of processing garden produce. Wednesday, I ran 5.4 miles. Today, Thursday, hubby asked me not to go run due to thick forest fire smoke in the air. I was only going to do a couple of miles anyway. Instead, I am on the spin bike for an hour, but will go ahead and swim later, too. Did breathing exercises last night when I played my flute and sang at a local jam session, ;-). Tons of fun!

Wednesday, was feeling a bit tight so just did a very easy run around 10min pace. 6.1 miles. Then at the end of the trail is a frozen custard shop, got me a big helping of some flavor of the week to long to write here, in a dipped waffle cone, and set back out on the trail to walk while I ate my tasty treat. Of course it was in the 80's and the thing melted about double as fast as regular ice cream so I had to work fast, but still got in .8 mile walk before I was done with it. :hungry:

Thursday was an off day, at least from running, hopped on my bike and 37 miles in 2:22 for a modest 15.6 mph ride. Actually was working somewhat hard on the return half, the wind picked up a bit and it was in my face.

Friday (today) 8.8 miles, of which 3.8 were warm up & cool down and a 5 mile stretch I was going to try and push close to my 10k race pace. Well, my right leg was still a feeling slightly strained plus the heat and humidity convinced me that even my target pace for upcoming 18 mile race was too much, as I averaged about 7:40 pace. Sweat right through my shorts and everything. Enjoying a large 4 egg omelette now, stuffed with lots of veggies. Still got a long run to do over the weekend, should easily clear 40 miles this week, maybe closer to 50. It's amazing how much easier it is to get the runs in when I don't have to work for the week and my son is back in school. ;)

@happysongbird I skipped the garden this year :( heck I skipped about everything I had going on this year, but it has freed up some time for running and cycling for sure. As soon as I get done with my October marathon I've got to dive right into some projects needing finished around the house. Still I miss the garden, hopefully next year if I get caught up.

Friday after I last reported I got in an additional 12 mile bike ride.

Saturday took it easy, but wanted to get a bit of a run in since my leg still felt a little tight, an easy 2mi run at near 10min pace.

Today (Sunday) big long run for me, 16 miles, with Yvonne. Did it at 9:09 average pace which isn't too bad for our long runs together. It really helped that it was very cool compared to the last couple months, mid 70s and nice breeze. Perhaps the coolest day we've had in months. Also walked a mile after as part of the cool down, 17 miles total distance today. Legs definitely a little tired and a little strained, but nothing bad I don't think, tomorrow will tell that. Lots of folks on the trail today. As a result little to no wildlife to be seen.

Biggest week of the year on foot I think (maybe ever?), 50.3 miles total, of which 2.5mi were recorded as walking but I don't always separate the walks out. 49.23 miles cycling.

Now starts the taper for the 18.12 Challenge over Labor Day weekend, two weeks from today. I am wondering if I shouldn't have run such a long run today but I wanted to come closer to 18 miles than I had been doing this summer.

8km BF walk and then a 5.7km run (first one back after break). -The run felt really good. The rest combined with some regular BF walks seems to have worked well for my muscles...:)
Ran a reasonable pace too today & enjoyed being back out on the running circuit again...
