Ok so I missed a week. -Variety of reasons, none of them particularly related to running.
I took the opportunity to get a sports massage anyway (that was painful -though apparently very good for my muscles according to the therapist!).

So back out today for 5.5km on a wet and blustery morning. Although it was grey and overcast, it was actually a really nice temperature to run in.
Everywhere's very green right now and growing rapidly with all the rain. Lots of birdsong to accompany me on my way.
Felt good again today (it seems the therapist was right after all..).:)

Having an odd week this week... would be my 'hell week' with 6-12hr days but two of them I got pulled into training and out at our backup center which sits right by the bike path. And my one day off (Thursday) I had so much going on I didn't get a run in at all.

Monday was a rest day, had to break my 9 in a row streak :(
Tuesday about 11mi cycling, 6.6mi running
Wednesday 13.5mi cycling, 6.3mi running
Thursday was a light day, a little over 8 cycling and 1 walking
Today I did a short 3 mile run

Hoping to get a couple good runs in over the weekend, one being a long run, if I have time, I hope.

Just over 6km yesterday morning before heading off to work.
Nice dry and fairly warm conditions, and quite a few other runners & cyclists out and about.

Ran past a chap dressed for work eating an ice-cream at around 6.30am! We exchanged 'good morning's, but for a moment I thought to myself 'that looks a bit odd for breakfast'. -Then I remembered I was running barefoot, so I guess he probably thought much the same about me!:)

Another good run..

5 miles Tuesday clear skies cool moon.
5 miles Thursday 81 deg. f. 74 % RH.
I'm still seeing lightning bugs and rabbits.
2 nice runs so far.

And 1 more of 2 km. Not likely to run on Sunday.
Also, today we went for a 5 km hike. I was on my VFF except for the final stretch were I decided to remove my shoes because... hell! Why not? And it was like a revelation. I've never enjoyed hiking, but now I want more! :D

Anyway, for the time being I'm not counting manimalist/barefoot hikes for the ToRC.

Cheers!

9,5k Wednesday in very wet forest loads of birds,
10,5k Saturday in the same forest devastated by a huge storm days before, still loads of birds,
7,3k this Sunday on the road with the rest of the family following on bikes.
big nap after that.
all totally barefoot.
what a week!

A couple hot runs this weekend. Temps were very near 90º both days and full sun out. And of course I have to run early afternoon when it at its worse. Luckily the rail trail is partly/mostly shaded but still some open stretches in full sun where the surface was getting on the verge of burning. I checked the road temp when I got home (didn't have my IR thermometer with me at the trail) but the road is mostly a more pale color. It was averaging around 125ºF and I barely even felt it warm. I walked a little ways where there was a stretch of fresher and darker asphalt and it was 135-138º and could feel it more close to the temp I was on the rail trail. Nothing seems to toughen up the soles like hot asphalt, bring on the heat I say!

Saturday was 6.5 miles and Sunday did a long run, 12 miles in the heat.

That brings me to 36.7 miles on foot, and 32.8 miles cycling for the week. A pretty good week considering my work schedule!

My grandpa taught me how to have ice cream on my oatmeal, and I passed it on to my kids. My only rule was that the oatmeal had to be gone before the ice cream. :D And we rarely served it more than once a week.
