I reckon I'm done

That's what I love about the BRS! Everyone is willing and eager to help lift someone else up and give them hope. Thanks to all!

I am late coming into this - but I am/was in the same boat. Look at my posts regarding being told no more running at all or else risk severe pain and the necessity of new knees. I have "macerated cartilage", "large Baker's cyst etc. etc. Doc/Physio sounded like the Bobbsey twins. Passage of time - long story short - had to get a new doc - sent me to an orthopedic surgeon who looked at my MRI and said - Try running again - SLOWLY build up over 3 months to two miles. Yesterday - I did 1/2 mile of walking/running barefoot. Felt wonderful - thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt like a kid again. So don't give up! Daughter calling me to go - will post more later - but don't give up!

Update!

So I read Ken Bob's book and -- despite the weird, sometimes-pain in my right foot -- started up running again. And... success! Yes, my second toe on my right foot goes a little numb a few miles in, but screw it. Today I did 3.3 miles with no pain (part of it was on a gravel bit I used to really struggle on, but not this time -- thanks bent knees! Thanks Ken Bob!)

Anyhow, I'm taking it easy -- trying to relax, relax, relax -- and just having fun with it all. Which I reckon is the point. Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I carry your good words with me every time I head out!

That same thing happens on my right foot where I had a stress fracture. It hurts a tiny bit sometimes and then the pain goes away after a few minutes of walking/running.

Yeah. I still wonder if mine's still fractured. But I guess I don't care! I'm barefoot almost 99.999% of the time now -- grocery stores, CVS, Home Depot -- you name it. So my foot is just going to have to adapt.

Ran about the same amount again yesterday. Man, was the pavement hot...
