Well figured I'd carry on the thread title like Happysongbird did... although my weeks start on Monday. I know officially I think the week starts on Sunday but that never made sense to me. Sunday is part of the weekend right? lol

I started the week of again with a long run today (Monday). I took the week off from work... was going to head to the mountains but rail in the forecast pretty much every day.:( Anyhow 14 miles in today with Yvonne. Averaged just a smidgen under 9 minute pace, not too bad for a long run for us.

Began the week with the hottest run of the year, 8.2 miles all before 8:30 AM. Okay, it was only 70°F, but very humid and that was the low for the night, plus the sun was intense. Was dripping from perspiration. Felt a bit dragging, but I kept it as comfortable as I could and did okay. May have to get out even earlier tomorrow since it is supposed to hit 101°F here!

5 mile run at 5:00 am.
Not much critter action.
The sounds were good.
I had some nice relaxing flow going on.

Forgot I was going to mention something on my Monday run... I was wearing my cargo shorts like I have been wearing a lot lately (I don't really see a big deal with 'proper' running or cycling gear anymore). About 3/4 of the way through the 14 mile run when we stopped to use the restrooms I realized that I actually had my big honkin' wallet in my back pocket. Totally didn't even know it was there! Fortunately it only got a little sweaty, and I was able to throw it in my hydration vest pocket the last few miles.

Well not much running for me for a few days - I am actually taking a 3 day cycling trip. Got 83 miles in today. Had a great time and I'm still feeling good. We'll see how I feel when I get up... I can cut it short and circle back if I need too. Spooked a buck right on the edge of the road today, a nice sized one in full velvet. No way to get a pic so quickly. Also came across a flock of turkey in one of the city parks, they were pretty used to people and let me get within about 15 feet. I'll have to see how the pic came out after I get home and put em on the computer.

15 miles this week, just one run, 8 miles barefoot the rest in Vibrams.
Was really humid, I kind of slow boiled on the way out and gently roasted on the way back, really nice to get some vitamin D at last.
Everything was so green.

Confirmed a bit of a medial knee injury today so I doubt I'll be posting for a month or so until it settles, but i'll keep an eye on what you all are doing and feed off that instead.

Hi Tristan,
I did notice your shorts in the pictures and wondered "are those just regular cargo shorts?" :)
So are they just regular old shorts? if so that's a brilliant move, love it!

Chris

Nice 5km circuit mid week on a clear and very Summery morning.
Lots more people around in the week -runners, dog walkers, fishermen, group keep-fit enthusiasts, etc...
I feel as if I'm relaxing into my runs more quickly/easily than I have sometimes in the past (if that makes sense!?). So everything's feeling good at the moment, which is nice...:)

Good luck on Sunday Runlite...

Oh no! Heal well my friend.

Well regular could mean many things, but yeah. Actually a bit of story there. I got them back in either high school or college (I think a gift from my folks or something) Gander Mountain brand cargo shorts with several different sized pockets and also elastic cinch things on the leg openings. 70/30 cotton/poly. They were pretty snug and I think they only got light use for a couple years then didn't fit anymore. I gained a lot of weight in my 20's and got really out of shape. I am however back down to college weight now 15-20 years later and actually got out a box earlier this year of all the smaller clothes that were in nice shape but didn't fit me any more. Yeah I guess I'm a pack rat, or just frugal hoping they'd fit again someday :p. And they do! I'm trying to look for something similar though - these have developed a couple small holes. Maybe all poly so they don't soak as bad. But most today are way baggy, I'd like something that is more snug with similar elastic cinch (makes it nicer for cycling so wind gusts don't reveal my unders lol.

Anyhow, just completed my 3 day cycling trip, 225 miles. No running though. :dead:
Fantastic trip, I'll post some pics up in my cycling thread in the Pub section.

Taking today off to rest and recover but hope to get some runs in over the weekend.

Oh, no, skedaddle! So sorry to her that. Hope it heals up soon.

Wednesday I ran 7.3 miles, not feeling real good due to hormones, but still felt better for running. Then, swam my approx half mile.

Thursday was a spin bike day.

Friday, I made it a lovely 13.1 miles feeling significantly better than Wednesday. The run felt easier and I was going faster without trying. Swam again.

Saturday I was taken on an impromptu (for me) hike up in the mountains. Our two college age girls were going up with 4 young men and their dad thought it best if we tagged along. They were a great group and thanked us all repeatedly for such a great time. It may have helped that we bought them all lunch after. The hike took somewhat over 4 hours to go just over 8 miles at around 6000 feet elevation. There were some fairly steep climbs and slippery slopes, potentially leading to a plunge in the icy river if a step went wrong! I was mostly in my Moc3's, but actually had to switch to barefoot in one difficult steep section to get traction and keep my balance. Fortunately, that was only about 1/2 a miles worth. Maybe I'll post a couple photos tomorrow.

This is my summary for the week for a total 19.7 km:
Monday - 8.2 km @ 6:21 min/km
Thursday - 5 km @ 6:15 min/km
Saturday - 6.5 km @ 5:55 min/km

This week I wasn't feeling good enough to complete my objective of 10 km runs. I better get at it because I'm having a 10k in just one week :/

I had to take Friday off to recover after the big bike trip, then got a very easy 6.25mi in Saturday, and 8.75 today putting me at 29.75 miles for the week. Also 236 miles cycling this week. Had a couple weeks off then an easy 3 day work week - was just enjoying feeling human lol... now got to go back in on nightshifts tomorrow. :grumpy: :dead: :walkingdead:

Just got the all clear from the Doc, he seem's to think its related to a tight hamstring and too much to be concerned about, which is good news. Got some anti inflammatory cream and said it would be ok to keep running, just to take it steady and work on core strength a bit more.
So I just added 7.6 miles to my weekly tally, mainly on gravel to keep my speed down, which it didn't because members of the local running club took an interest in my barefootedness and decided to chat, I just had to represent and I think I opened a few eyes.

Hi Tristan - I prob like alot of people have spent $50 a pair on "running" shorts. Recently though I have wondered "do I really need to have running specific shorts? Don't get me wrong, they are nice to haves but are they really necessary? I think the answer is no. I thought it was cool as heck you were just wearing shorts you can get anywhere, nothing special, and doing your thing in them. Very cool imo.
