...if I promise to whisper it quietly would you enlighten us, or is it a place that is too scary even to mention?...

The place in question is Runner's World...there, I said it :nailbiting:

I used to pop in there every year after we started to wish them a happy birthday, but stopped after 5.

They had a huge spam attack on their forums, all of them, about 3 years ago. They battled the spam for weeks but couldn't beat it; it just kept coming in. I've never seen anything like it. It was severe. You couldn't get from one thread to another, let alone one post to another, without reading some crap post. They finally decided to wipe the whole slate clean and start over. That's why the thread/post count over there is so low, not at all what it used to be in all forums.

My signature over there reads, "My actual post count was 5,005 at the demise of the original Barefoot Runners Forum.
blue_bauble.gif
" That's more posts than the forum has in all!

Check it out, for old times' sake: http://community.runnersworld.com/topic/happy-4th-birthday-barefoot-running-forum

I see M.M. Caw even posted!

Oh yes! the good old days.
It's more fun here now though.

It's too bad though we've lost so many great members over the years here too. The Oregonians or whatever is the term were a hoot in particular. I know several have come and went in the Ohio chapter but I think I am the only 'active' poster in the state now-a-days (at least of the members that actually reveal their locations and join the state chapters). A moment of silence for all those friends lost in cyber space. :(

But plenty of great folks here now of course! ;)

I feel the same about the UT chapter since joining.
