I missed the morning run yesterday but snuck out at lunch yesterday :nailbiting: for a day time run (4 miles) through my faviorte nature trail by the job.
I did not see any critters to speak of (just some birds) but the trees and creek that are there are a sweet retreat:cool:

Good week so far. Monday 8.3 miles, did some 1mi intervals at my half-marathon pace. Got to get used to it since I've kind of slacked off over winter. Wednesday just ran easy down my rough road for 3.7 miles. It's about as rough as chip seal, and my soles were burning a bit after just that (and still today too :meh: ). Today went out for 5 miles on the rail trail, with 2 of them around my 1/2 marathon pace. Hope to get a long run in over the weekend.

Took some time off from running most of last week for various reasons. Back at it this week, ending up with my longest run on Friday of 12.6 miles, and a week's total of 30.4 barefoot miles.

Thought I was maybe taking it too easy for the long run, but wasn't willing to push the pace, except just a bit near the end for fun, so was interested to see that the average pace was toward the fast side of my range. I felt surprisingly peppy for my short 4.3 miler today for it being the day right after my longest run.

Am starting to add some rougher surfaces to my medium runs again, particularly in preparation for the potential 13.1 race mid May. It's nice that the route is so close to me and I can actually practice on it, even if it does have some rough, sharp spots.

Weight lifting, spin biking, and swimming all still coming along fine. Adding more yard work to that lately.

I had my first longer run in a long time yesterday and managed around 12.5 miles with about 1900 feet of ascent in the first half. It was a gorgeous day and the views were spectacular (and tantalising).

Very little wildlife to be seen but a huge number of mountain bikers!

Fantastic scenery Chris!

A good week for me - most mileage in a couple months (30 miles +25 biking). Enjoyed a few days of warm weather. Saturday got 13 miler in, felt great but the legs were pretty exhausted after. Need to get a few more of those in and get back at it. Today was wonderful in the 70's and I took the bike out. Testing some new pedals to see how barefoot friendly they are. More about that soon in the pedal thread in triathlon forum.

Snapped a couple quick pics. Trees are just starting to bud so one can still see through the woods pretty far. In summer you can barely see the small stream, and there isn't much water left in by then anyhow. A partial panorama...

And here I was going to pose by my old '86 Super Sport but the self timer turned it more into a candid shot. Phone wanted to refocus everytime I set it down so I just gave up and went with that one.

5.75km for me this week -2.5k on Thursday morning and 3.25k over the weekend.
It was nice and dry in the week and quite warm too. Form felt good.
Then back to wintery conditions again this weekend -wind & rain, so another run through plenty of puddles. No other runners out this morning. Just the usual chap emptying the bins around the lake, dressed against the elements -he always says hello...:)
